| | A trip from Reinach, Basel to the Paris Eiffel tower
Hi all,
This is the first time I write in this wonderful forum, and I feel I will get a lot of friends from here.
I will travel to Reinach (in Basel) after 2 months, for a business trip, but I want to visit the Eiffel tower in Paris after finishing the business.
Kindly I need to know how to get there by train and return in the same day to Reinach? (I mean from where should I book the train and where is the station in Reinach, and when should I get off in Paris and what to take to the Eiffel tower and the total cost of this journey)
Please Advice !

Welcome to the forum.
Book and pay online via TGV TGV Europe
From the Paris station, you can buy RER tickets to the tower in Euros.
( SBB might be expensive but check there as well ) SBB ( Choose Basel SBB as the departure point to Paris Est )
From Reinach to Basel SBB, you can buy a local ticket off the ticketing machine at the Reinanch tram stop in Swiss Francs ( CHF ).
There is also the option of using Deutsche Bahn, with a short ride from Reinach to Basel Badischer Bahnhof ( Basel Bad Bhf ) to Paris using the Europa-Spezial Frankreich
Ticket prices vary, more expensive if the date of travel is near, best prices at 89 days prior to intended date of departure.
Any travel after 12.12.2011 might have a slight issue with Winter 2011/2012 timetable change.

I was expecting to find a newbie receiving loads of grief for his/her first post on EF, and instead I find jrspet's thoughtful and helpful reply!
What a nice change!
Maged, great advice from jrspet. Take the tram from Reinach to Basel, TGV from Basel to Paris, and then take the Metro to the Eiffel tower. Reserve your tickets to the Eiffel tower ahead of time to save yourself a long wait in line.

Thanks guys for your reply, but I have some questions:
1- where is the tram stations in Reinach (if there is a map I will be grateful), 2- what is the nearest station to get off and go to the train station.
3- what is the TGV and from where should I reserve the ticket?
4- if I dont want to take the Metro to Effile tower and want to walk through the city to Effile, what is the path you recommend for me to see sightseeing as much as possible.
finally, thanks a lot for helping me.
Regards,

2 - Reinach ===> Basel SBB station by tram / Paris Est / Nord ===> Champ de Mars / Tour Eiffel stop .. walk about 100m to the actual tower.
3 - TGV ( French train ) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TGV - online as per the internet link I gave in my post above. Print the ticket at home or have sent it free to your Reinach address.
4 - You can walk - not a problem. A bus ride is a good idea, and then walk around. I would take a river cruise. http://www.discoverfrance.net/France...-Mouches.shtml

There's a few tram stops in Reinach - they are situated along the main reinach Basel road and there's two in the center of town - tram map can be found at www.bvb.ch, click on linienetz. Get off at the SBB train station tram stop..
It is possible to walk from Gare de l'Est to the Tour Eiffel but it's quite some way 3-4 km and some of your route would be through some less pretty bits. You can catch the bus though, for a nice outlook. From memory the 32 goes from the train station through to Place du Trocadro which is the best viewing point for the Eiffel tower and just a short walk to the base where you can walk up.
You're best to get a map of Paris and a metro/bus plan - a useful website is Paris.com.
I live in Reinach - if you need more advice we could have a coffee and I'll try to help.

That's really good,
but is there another station in Basel instead of Basel SBB station as I will take place in carat-hotel-basel, and I wish there is such a nearer station.

You'll need to go to Basel SBB as that's where all the high-speed trains to France depart from.
