Taking TV on flight baggage

Wanted to take my 4 yr old 81 cm diagonal tv with me on an international flight as baggage (to India, flying from Frankfurt). Anyone done this? Possible? Anything to watch out for? Packing tips? (I still have the original box, still need to look for the receipt to prove that it is 4 yrs old)

Re: Taking TV on flight baggage

I worked with a guy who did it, to india as well, never found out if the tv survived, I'd make sure you get plenty of extra insurance for it as I recon the chances of getting it over in one piece must be almost zero.

Re: Taking TV on flight baggage

I was on a flight back from Turkey with some prototype TVs (back in the days of CRT TVs) and whilst looking out of the window of the plane after landing, I saw a luggage cart drive away from the plane too fast and all the boxed TVs fell of as it cornered.

Every one was broken.

TVs are a bit tougher now. Make sure the packaging is good enough though.

HI ,
I have Done this Twice from Switzerland, It is no big deal atleat in my case.
And Even if you don't find the Original Receipt , the Custom people know how old that model is and sp. 81 cm is not that big to carry in check in Luggage.
All the best , I am sure it will work out from my Experience.
