Re: Easyjet Zurich - Manchester

Sorry guys.
Bad news the same friend just called EJ and they fessed up.
The route is cancelled for at least the summer and will only return in the winter if EJ can negoitate succesfully with Zurich Flughafen. :-(
I guess the same thing happened with Aer Lingus' old flight to Gatwick.

Easyjet aren't abandoning Zurich just yet - they'll still be flying to LGW and LTN.

It probably won't be long before they shut the other routes.

Thanks everyone for your input, fingers crossed its back in the Winter. Easyjet definately favour the South! There must be enough business for the North of England and the flight has always been full when we have travelled. Guess we just have to hope Zurich Flughafen come up with a good deal

..the route isn't cancelled, they are waiting to decide on how to roll their schedules...

Sounds like rubbish as they've revised, renewed, rolled, released other routes. But Manchester Zurich doesn't (yet) appear on their website's list of cancelled routes.....
Thanks for the info, I hope it turns out to be true fingers crossed!

Re: Easyjet Zurich - Manchester

Swiss do three flights a day and, on average, have been about 25CHF (per leg) more expensive whenever I've checked.

For this additional 25CHF you get:

- Extra legroom
- More sociable flight times
- A seat that you like
- Chocolate
- Good baggage allowance (read the small print and you can actually take loads into the cabin, esp. if female!)
- A snack
- A drink
- Preferential treatment at ZRH airport

All in all, it's well worth it. I take a regular flight to Manchester and average around 180CHF return.

Whilst choice is great, and having that later Easyjet flight available was good, it's no loss for me.

All well and good, but the prices with Swiss came down when Easyjet started flying the same route. So lets hope that the prices don't go back up again once Easyjet stop! We shall see....

Oh no!

.... I use this about once a month, and my wife uses it about the same too... so we meet up every couple of weeks....

...... If they cancel this route then it means Swiss "Empty-your-wallet" Air...

Re: Easyjet Zurich - Manchester

I emailed them.... this is what they said....

Thank you for contacting us.

I was concerned to learn that the rumours of easyJet opting out from Zurich caused you a worry.

I would like to inform you that the Manchester - Zurich route has not been dropped.

Since we do not have set release dates for future schedules I cannot give you the exact date when the flights will be released. My best advise is to visit http://blog.easyjet.com regularly or submit for newsletter. If you choose "preferred destination location" Zurich you will be informed via e-mail once the flights are released.

I understand the route is important to you and I can tell you that we had a number of enquiries about it already. I have checked all my records and I can only confirm that the route has not been stopped.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to reply to this e-mail and I will be happy to assist you further.

Yours sincerely

Plus Swiss flights are less prone to delays.

I must have some easyjet lucky charm or something.

People seem to give them a hard time here, but I've been here 5 years & flown with them dozens & dozens of times & I've only ever had 1 proper delay & it wasn't that big a deal. (Swiss delayed me last night & 2 other times in the past year - hey ho.)

Sure, when Swiss is a decent price it's nice to be given a nice cup of tea & chocolate & not be shouted at through an over amplified PA systen to buy scratch cards, but there is something I always like to remind EJ bashers: You should at least be thankful that we're not a Ryanair route.

It does kind of annoy me that they can't make their mind up.

My flight in June got cancelled in November. So, I contacted them and they first told me, I should not worry as they just haven't fixed the new schedule.
Two hours later the EJ agent contacted me again to inform me that they have cancelled it - but it wouldn't be visible on the system.
In my case, they cancelled my booking and returned me my money.

Re: Easyjet Zurich - Manchester

Thanks 'virtuallySwiss'... but whenever I seem to want to fly ZRH / MAN it seems that Swiss Air are charging a LOT more than 25F + EJ price.... I'm flying SwissAir on 16th Feb (Thu) early morning - return 21st (Tue) early morning, because I can't make use of EJ's mid-day flight times and I need to be in UK early on 16th Feb. .... total cost just under CHF 200, or lose a couple more days if I use EJ ... so I reckon thats a good CHF 100 more than EJ - also, if I want Friday/Monday or weekend then Swiss is far more, AND they don't like to sell one-way tickets - they charge a fortune, so you have to buy a return ticket, even if EJ would suffice...

I do hope this anti consumer practice will soon cease; being charged 700% more for a single ticket is dreary and oh-so-twentieth century. Do remember folks you enter a contract when buying a return ticket; you're obliged to find good cause to pull out if you don't intend to use the return leg.
