Taken this morning of said device :
Bingo! Did you perchance notice an auslander in an espace doing exactly the same thing this morning?

Ok - so this is a "flasher", yes/no? Hopefully yes, because it didn't when I passed!

This is the "myth bit" according to your clearly extensive research work:

Hi there,

Thanks for pointing out that publication to me. I was indeed not aware of it. And no, I had not done any extensive research when I posted it. I posted based on experience by being stopped by a cop at a speed control and told the story. He let me go with a warning.

Now, I did some research based on you grunting me (it is good for something!) and in all honesty I can not find any rules about a speed limit in Switzerland for bicycles. Of course, all traffic participants (including bicycles) must adhere to the general rules (see Strassenverkehrsgezetz), which includes that one has to adjust his speed so as not to disturb other participants and slow down if necessary.

The next paragraph in the same article specifies that only the speed of motorized vehicles is limited.

"SR 741.01 Art. 32 2 Der Bundesrat beschränkt die Geschwindigkeit der Motorfahrzeuge auf allen Strassen.1

Therefore, theoretically the 30km/h speed limit in a 30km zone does not apply to unmotorized vehicles like bicycles, and based on that can not be fined. However, going 50km/h in a 30km zone can be interpreted as dangerous, therefore not complying with the first paragraph, and one can therefore be fined for that.

Hope that with this post I have corrected my first post. My own myth busted...

KR,
Henk

Re: Speed camera query

In the UK the offence is "cycling furiously", IIRC.

PS - as way of an update, the camera has now vanished. Hopefully without my details in it...

Re: Speed camera query

I don't get it.

Unless the OP had his name and address and date of birth on his back, what does it matter if he was flashed or not??

Because he was on a motorbike, so has a registration plate, allowing him to be traced? A UK plate admittedly, but traceable all the same.
