Interesting Train Story (IC Geneva St Gallen), happened near Geneve.

This was today while using the IC train from Geneve to Bern

So it started by a sudden break few hundreds of meters after Geneva, near Geneva Schlieren SBB that let all whom were standing up fall on ground, then came an announcement telling the following

"Ladies and Gentlemen, if anyone in the train has experience with mechanics or work as a mechanician please come to the chef cabinet!"

All the people were laughing and it was interesting that they laughed on groups, first the French group then the german group when they said the announcement in German.

After few min, the announcement said that we have to continue the trip from Geneva slower than 80 KMs / hour seemed a bit difficult especially that my destination was Bern, but still better than those whom destination is St. Gallen.

They then said again in an announcement, thanks we now found a mechanician,

Looks like the mechanican did a great job, the train stopped completely in Neon .

After 10 - 15 min, the announcement said that the train cannot continue and please run to take the train on the opposite plateform without telling it is going from where to where or any details.

People run and the train was like a Tuna can, people over each other.

It was a train till Lausanne, where people could exchange to the next train continuing till Bern.

Good that this happens rarely, and very good that it did not happen in the morning.

And for me that was very nice to remember my homeland J and to cut the boring of having everything works as how it should work here in Switzerland, now I am longing for a vacation to go and visit my homeland.

So I thought of sharing this experience with EF.

Re: Interesting Train Story (IC Geneva St Gallen), happened near Geneve.

This doesn't sound like a bad experience to me, just a bit of rush hour inconvenience due to a technical issue that can happen anywhere. They kept you informed and transferred you to another train that eventually got you to the right place, what more can you ask for?

My train home this evening (S1 on the line from Luzern to Baar) was cancelled. There was an InterRegio behind it which does not normally stop at Rotkreuz, where I get on, but they stopped it to compensate for the gap in the timetable, even though the next S-Bahn was due only 10 minutes later. I think that 99% of the time the service is brilliant here.

About a week ago one of the SBB train managers made some "funny" remarks, over the announcement system, on the Bern to Zurich train. This was reported in the Swiss newspapers, and this is probably why the passengers were laughing: but as they found out at Nyon, it was not a joke!
