Speed Traps - Spring warning

They are out in force again

I took the Alpina to the dealer last night and to do so I had to go up the A14 (Swiss motorway) from Sargans to Triesen (google is your friend). From Sargans to Balzers there are currently roadworks with an 80kmh speed limit.
About halfway along, in the roadworks, was parked up a black BMW 5-series estate - with a man (dressed in black) standing behind it with a black radar gun.
2km further up - at the turn off to Balzers was a police roadblock - pulling anyone over who was caught speeding.
If you're going to do a job - do it properly!!

Re: Speed Traps - Spring warning

Haven't they got better things to be doing, than catching speeders on the safest type of road there is?

Like arresting some post 10pm flushers maybe?

Re: Speed Traps - Spring warning

I paid once 550CHF for 16km/h above the limit...

Basically once you leave the 60km/h limit just after Bienne, you go to 80km/h but.... about 300meter after, in a corner you should go back to 60km/h I missed the sign and bang just after is the radar. The Swiss TV show Temps Present reported last summer on these few misleading traps.

Since then I have something (I'm not suppose to have), that tells me where all fixed radar are. I do respect speed limits but it's so easy to miss a sign.

Generally motorways are the safest roads, yes. Not sure I can find any stats on accident rates in motorway roadworks I'll be honest, but I'm sure you have them?

Sure I have them . Sorry for taking so long. Number of accident rise at construction site, more accidents at beginning end end, less severe because of lower speed, ovaerall risk for accident 100% higher, cause is high speed, speed trap should be visible and at danger spots.

I drive Sargans to Buchs SG every day and they need police on that road, it's the worst stretch of speeders and cars cutting you off or running up your ass, I had cars cut across me and go down the ramps, had a car try to pass on the right even though I had a car in front of me and we were passing two cars, he then went between those two and down the Vaduz ramp, also had a turbo Porsche drive by me half way in my lane and never moved over to their side of the road, ran me off on the shoulder. In 12 years here I have only seen radar twice and in the last four years only one police car.. Oh but on the off ramps they control your autobahn sticker. The road is like a race track everyday, no way can you slow down to 120 going with the flow is like 160 then you get passed. The fastest that went by me would guess around 230 and more than once. I see alot of accidents where someone clips the front of the other car here and spins them around.
