Stolen car plate: found them shortly after

Hi,

Some fool stole my rear car registration plate, I only notice it this morning.
So it was definitely there Friday evening, and might have disappeared anytime in between. So it's up to 2-3 days possible disappearance.

It was definitely stolen as the breaking point is neat, and the plastic holder thing was new (few months old).

I looked up "service automobiles" and police website, one need to make a an official complain report.

I went back to the parking, looked up in the bins, in the bushes and found my plate.

I still went to the police station anyway to make a report, but the officer refused to make it. He said he still made an internal report, but could not provide any reference or photocopy.

So, as I said politely and diplomatically to the officer, that might be not enough if anything had happens with the plate- But he said it's possible for police to find that "internal report", so I am protected.

Basically, I still want to cover my ass in case something had happens, how can I take it further?

Is that possible to contact the "main police" office in Switzerland and get them to confirm that it's ok?

Is that possible to file an administration claim?

I can't find the right process, or next step.

Thanks.

Wait until your speeding fine arrives and then try and convince them that you had your plates stolen, but found them again.

tbh if they were stolen, why would they return them to near your car?

They would have just binned them after using them if they were for anything dodgy, so I expect it was just another car bumped in to yours or a random/drunken act of number plate ripping off.

There is nothing you can do, & nothing to worry about as only 1 plate was missing. I suspect someone bumped your car & it fell in the road, happens all the time.

Thanks, they did not return them.
They broke the plastic holder and throw it away in a well hidden side full of dumps. Just behind the parking places.

I found them, but nothing guarantees me that they haven't been used for anything bad.

No, not possible.

The car was parked with the rear along some barrier, not possible to "hit my car's back".

Also, the "cut" is very neat, and I actually found the plate thrown away a few meters from the car.

Ps: I would have no worries for speeding fine as the car hasn't moved since Great Friday- It's very unlikely that a same model/same color car would still my plates. At least, with speeding fine you get a picture proving it's you/not you.

It might of fallen out earlier. In any case there is no need to cut the plastic, the no can be removed without damage. I am sure any no plate thief would know that.

Probably just some lads, after their first alchopop, arsing around.
Have you ruffled anyone's feathers recently?
