New arrival, buying a car on FR plates but no permit yet - bad idea?

Hi. I've recently arrived in CH and work are sorting out my B permit, which they said might take a couple of months. I have two kids and am keen to get a car. There's a car nearby in Vaud on French plates for sale, a couple of thousand CHF below Swiss book price (well, Autoscout) - say 5000CHF. Would it be worth buying this or is it only going to be hassle trying to get insurance, Swiss plates etc without my permit (even though the process has started).

Apologies if this is confusing but any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Forget the car on French plates, that will probably cost you plenty!

Join Mobility for a 4 months trial period, get a Cumulus shopping card from Migros (Free of charge) and the 4 months are even cheaper,

please update your location to a Swiss town.

I bought an FR car in the uk, and imported it without issue. Even after all the fees and duties I was thousands better off compared to buying natively.

I bought it as I moved here too, so my B was is progress at the time too when I started the import process.
