Train to ZRH

When traveling to ZRH from Staefa, I usually take the S7 to Zurich HB and transfer over to the S2 to Zurich Flughafen. As per SBB timeline. The trek from platform 21/22 to 52 is such a pain in the ass. I can barely make the 7 minute connection when I'm by myself. If I'm with my kids, it's almost impossible.

Google maps suggest the S7 to Zürich Oerlikon and transfer to S2.(The same S2 leaving HB). With 6 minutes to transfer from platform 6 to 4, this seems like a much easier route.

I thought SBB was the model of efficiency. Why would they recommend such an inefficient route?
Am I missing something?

Re: Train to ZRH

It seems that the SBB timetable ignores the distance between different tracks/platforms of the same railway station and brings up the connection with the longer connecting time. (Which does make sense in most cases.)

Re: Train to ZRH

Change at Oerlikon instead. To double check times, do a search Staefa to Oerlikon and then Oerlikon to Flughafen.

Re: Train to ZRH

It is doable, if you take the underground route via Sihlquai, but changing at Oerlikon is of course way easier..

Google often gets it better than official timetables. I've seen other examples of this.
