Window tinting allowed?

My 15yo Volvo's window got smashed last week by some fine upstanding citizen who no doubt needed shelter from a hail storm or whatnot, bless his heart. And with my premium level of insurance, I'm fortunate enough to have to foot the bill myself. So, I'm searching around for a secondhand item to fit. I found a pair on Ricardo, but they're tinted ever so slightly. I thought this wasn't allowed in der schweiz.

I looked out my front window to confirm, and in five minutes saw no front tinted windows passing by, but wouldn't you know, the car dealer across the street has a snazzy new Nissan with all but the windshield tinted. I guess I'll ask him on the way out, but I thought I'd post it here. Has the law changed recently? Can we now shield our car stereo and gps from the prying eyes of passers by? Or will I have to pull out the hair dryer and scrape the tint off these Ricardo items?

Re: Window tinting allowed?

Certain % of tint is allowed but unless it is OEM tinted window than you just need a certificate for it, AFAIK.

Tinting of the windshield and front side windows is limited to 30%.
