My husband and I are on a tight budget and explained our move requirements to Gregory - purchased some used Ikea furniture from some people 2 towns over and need to move it to our house. Gregory asked what the items were and told us that they would take some time to dismantle and suggested that we have him arrive 30 minutes later than originally requested to give us enough time to take apart the furniture and get it ready to move (saving us money). His English is great and he is very easy to talk to. | | | | | Went with Gregory at short notice (2 days). Fantastic service. One firm quoted me CHF 800-1100. I paid 379 + tip. Whole 3 bedroom flat transferred to storage in 2.5 hours. I recommend without hesitation!!! This is the first time I've been happy with a service in Zürich

I would recommend Henry with the moving. He responded on a short notice. And also did a good job in loading and unloading huge furniture.

I can see this is quite an old threat but let's try...
So I would need to move a sofa and a table within Zürich.
I don't like to subscribe to mobility for this occasion only as it would almost double my purchase price, and it is only two items, not even huge ones.
So I would prefer a "Man with Van", if anybody could give me a reliable contact, I would appreciate. Englsih speaking would be preferred.
Thanks!

Hello everybody!
Last week I hired "Man with Red Van" to help me bring three big pieces of used furniture to my apartment within Zurich area. This German speaking Swiss gentleman has been previously positively recommended in this forum in a post from 2010, but now prefers not to have his name easily found in Google, for this reason I won't write it here. He came up with a new name for this activity and has a new phone number, which [can be provided via PM]
(By the way, I sent an SMS in English to the old number posted here explaining what I needed and the date/time aimed and I mentioned that he could feel free to respond in German. He responded from the new number.)
I have tried to contact many other man with van suggestions from this forum and this gentleman was the only one who promptly responded to my SMS. Upon my request, as I knew I wouldn't be of much help, he brought an also friendly helper who could speak some English.
These two gentleman were very careful with the furniture and with both locations visited (they even cared for cleaning the dust from the furniture, which was kept stored for a while, so it would not make my apartment dirty). It was necessary to dissemble/assemble two big wardrobes and "Man with Red Van" had all the tools to do it. I repeat: he was really careful. I also felt that they worked diligently and did not waste time.
He does not speak English, but if you can speak basic German or has a friend to help you with the communication, I must say, this was a VERY GOOD deal, with proper, careful and reliable service. The price for the hour was much cheaper than any other quote provided by professional companies (the professional companies always responded to my requests promptly -- I was just not very happy with their prices).
I was so satisfied with their help that I offered myself to write this post.
I strongly recommend "Man with Red Van"!!!
The van takes 7m3
Length of the loading area: 2.5m
Height: 1.75m
Width: 1.6m

Hi All
the same question - anyone can recommend a man with van to move items from Zug to Pfaffikon (should take like half an hour to dive plus lets say 15 mins to load and unload)
so like 1 hour altogether
thanks,
arbus

hi All
this thread is quite old
I tried to contact a few guys mentioned above and could not get any answer
there are several other similar threads but I thought it would be nice to update the list of man with van
Nick recently helped me moving items around Zurich. 70chf per hour plus time to get to the place is charged at the same rate ( http://relaax.org/hs/local-van-work-2/)
could you add to that as I am looking to move some items again and Nick is unavailable
thanks

Simon Perks
Profesional Roadie with standard T260 Transit van -
2 x Euro pallets exactly fit.... Low roof
+ 2ton trailer 4m long 2.10 high 3m wide.
I move music instruments like baby grand piano's, guitar amps, drum kits & also expensive HIFI or delicate electronics, studio equipment, TV cameras.
I'm mechanically, Electronically and Woodwork minded, so I can do IKEA if need be.
Distance is not an issue, I live on the "East End" SG.
25-35 per hour would be nice
1.- per loaded KM + Fuel.
Trailer price depends on weight and whats being moved.
PM me if I can help.

Today I got my rattan sofa set picked up from Bern to Zurich. I highly recommend Allag's Last Minute Transport. It is situated in Fällenden Zürich
Mr Rabie [phone number removed] is very reliable. I had to get the sofa set picked up on Friday at 16.00 hours in Bern and be bought back to Zurich. Ask for a quote on Wed, he return a quote, reasonable prices and was ready to get the sofa to me by Friday. I was sceptical at first as it was such a quick response, but he picked up on time in Bern and delivered to my appartment. He has a big van. Very nice, not complicated and efficient. That is what I like about Mr Rabie. He speaks english and german. By the way, I was suppose to pay cash to the seller and ask Mr Rabie if he could first pay the buyer and I shall give him the money when he delivers. He agreed to do that for me. Wow !! that is really trust and good customer service.

Thanks for recommendation chosenJade. It sounds like a good experience and I have chosen Mr Rabbie to move my furniture to my new place tomorrow. I will post my experience over the weekend (assuming my internet is working ).

I will post my experience over the weekend (assuming my internet is working ). | | | | | Hi as promised, I just wanted to post my experience with Mr Rabbie. He charges CHF 80 p/h and I was able to arrange a time/date very quickly. He was late (due to traffic) and texted me to let me know. This actually worked in my favour as I had more time to take down all my furniture with my friends. When he arrived, he instantly started helping out with the furniture.
Our new flat is nearby and overall, it took and hour and a half so he charged me CHF 120. I guess I could have negotiated the price because he was late but I'm too nice to that .
Overall, he was a very nice guy who knows how to load a van the most efficient way. I was expecting two runs but he managed to fit everything in one go. I should mention that he has a Sat Nav.
Overall, I would recommend Mr Rabbi. I think it was well worth hiring his services as renting a van would cost CHF 80-99 anyway and you have the hassle of picking it up and driving it back.

Oh come on.... that's 3 hours driving (just one way) plus loading time, say he charges a minimum of 4 hours at 80.00 an hour.... the gas alone will cost best part of 100!

Hi everybody,
I need a man with a van ( or big car ) for this week (18.09 - 25.09 ) or the next, to move a bed in Zurich ( no mattress ). It's not a very long distance, only about 6 km. No assemblage required.. Just the transport.
If anybody can help please send a message.
Thanks!
p.s. The longest piece of the bed is 200 cm/ ikea disassembled

Hi!
Exactly the same issue here. Did you come with any solution?
