Interestingly, in the Google photo. the radar is pointed in the "new" direction. Not sure when Google did their last update but I imagine it was awhile ago.
I didn't see this post before. But I think they change it periodically as I always remember it facing the way it is now. When we got back I remember being confused that it was facing Geneva. I thought it was just my memory. Now I think they it's been flipped before.

I think it has been in the Geneva direction for the last couple of years. Both Lausanne South and Lausanne North are both 100 kph coming into the radar zone which is also 100 kph so it was really just there (it seems) to make sure people behaved themselves until the merge of the two highways was done and the 120 kph zone started - 500 meters later.

In a way, it makes more sense (or at least better for business) to have it in the 120 kph to 100 kph transition as it is as of a couple of days ago.

This is disappointing news. Does anyone know if the swapping is done on a rotating basis and/or whether its to increase revenue from a camera position?
It always points to the direction you're traveling. It is a 360 panaromic cam so that you know.

Just to dissappoint you more...

Re: Radar box direction changed - Lausanne South

Just to point out that radar warnings are illegal in Switzerland (and most of Europe) however an expert
has stated that if the warning is from a closed defined group (e.g. English Forum?) then it is not illegal.

But be careful, as non members can also read EF messages without becoming members! So the warning is as public as in a newspaper!

Confusion about banning radar warnings
By Daniel Foppa. Updated on 22/12/2011 333 Comments

The Parliament has banned public radar warnings.

It was assumed that this also meant Facebook and Twitter alerts are prohibited. But this is not quite so.
Warnings to "a defined group" remain allowed: A car driver had a radar case reviewed in western Switzerland.

Reading that data loggers can also be used to convict you of speeding, I remember a case in the UK where somebody used a mobile phone GPS logging app to defeat a speeding ticket the logged data showed he was never at the speed he was being prosecuted for.

s, especially if the camera is trapping unsuspecting drivers.

.
Unsuspecting drivers - you mean the ones that can't be bothered to keep their eyes peeled for speed limits indicators because they are DIFFERENT.
