OK, I talked with out landlord.
They were not very enthusiastic as the minimum rent period that they write a contract for is 1 year and all that talk. However, I convinced them that it is a favor for a friend of mine and after negotiating the renting fee, they agreed on 160 CHF down from 200 CHF.

I will drop you and pick you up with my car - for free ofcourse. DO NOT say that EF members did not help

Let me know If I should give them confirmation.

I think you should leave your car keys with me just for precautionary measures, otherwise it will not be opened or moved.

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

Hi all

After checking all your results, I think I found the cheapest parking service provider:

http://www.park-easy.ch/vergleichen-sie-unsere-preise/

21 days = 248 CHF and each other day only 10 CHF.
They also clean your car and take and bring you back to the airport with that price

Best

Valon

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

Hi,

Is there such a thing as cheap, short-teem parking in walking dustance to ZRH, costing 10 CHF per 24H for example?

What about SBB parkings in train stations?

There's no such thing at pretty much any airport in the world.

Cheapest in walking distance, assuming that means less than 15mins or so, probably is around 4 times what you're willing to pay. You can't even park a car at 10.- for 24 hours in any parking garage anywhere, let alone at the airport.

Long-term parking does become somewhat cheaper, but obviously still not cheap.

1. Park in Thurgauerstrasse, 6 CHF / day (from 08:00 to 08:00)

2. Cross the street
3. Take tram #10, 4.60 CHF for the supplement, 6.60 CHF full price
4. Arrive in 10 minutes at the airport

Total price = 10 - 12 CHF.

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

People come to Switzerland to earn high salaries, but high salaries also means prices will cost more than other European countries, but relatively speaking the parking prices are not expensive. Look at what Heathrow charge, or central London.

Even in South Africa my local airport will charge me chf 210 (converted from Rand) for a month in a country where the day rate for a labourer is CHF 10

So CHF 300 for a month to include collecting and pick up is not at all expensive. And being Switzerland, you can be sure the car is properly parked and not left in some muddy field or driven round town while you're away by a car park employee as often happens at off airport parking at Heathrow,

I suspect that someone flying in and out of Zurich for any other reason than business will not do this within the same day and the maximum time you are allowed to park there is six hours, some spots are good for 15 hours. So back to the drawing board.
Depending on your length of stay and journey to the airport (the initial post was talking about one month), it works out cheaper to get a cab to drop you off than to pay for parking.

AFAIR you don't need a ticket after 23:00. So if you park one morning before 08:00 on a 15-hours spot, you can pick the car no later than 08:00 next day.
Or, if you're not afraid of a fine, you can leave it there for some time.

But avoid Airport Taxi Transfers. https://www.englishforum.ch/complain...transfers.html

Well, parking fines are typically 40 francs, not sure if there is a cumulative effect after that first one or you just end up with your car towed. I also strongly suspect that other people have thought of this approach too, so I doubt they just let you get away with it... but yeah, sure, worth a try.
