parking near zurich airport for one month

Hi

could someone suggest a parking place close to Zurich airport where I could park my car for a month. I checked one at the airport but it costs ~ 350 CHF a month.

It is a pity Parkatmyhouse.com is not operating near Züri, but how about it ZRH based EF'ers, anyone open to an offer?

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

last time decided against taking the car to airport and took the train instead,

this time, need parking for 2 weeks, I see that P60 would cost me close to 170 CHF for 2 weeks.

does someone know a better / cheaper option?

thanks

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

What I'm going to say now is totally out of the blue, has no fundament and has absolutely nothing to do with me. I went to the cinema in Kloten on friday with two of my grandchildren. This cinema has about 25 parking spaces running down behind the building, spaces which I have never seen used - there are a few spaces at the cinema's entrance which get used sometimes, I think most people who go to this cinema walk. I thought then, what a waste - maybe it could be a little goldmine for the cinema owner - the bus stop is just around the corner and it only takes a few minutes to the airport.

Just a thought. Maybe it's worth a telephone call.

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

The various valet services are 300chf per month give or take. Wie use ParknFly.ch but there are now a couple of others I see. Google Zürich AirPort Parking. These are more convenient than P60 as they do curbside dropoff and pick up

Some of the nearby hotels do park n fly too. So you could get a "free" night at the hotel before your flight...

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

I'm looking to leave my car near Zurich airport for one month in March, or at least somewhere that I could then easily access the airport. Looks like the average rate is about 300-350chf ... not bad, but not exactly money we have to throw away!

Any secret options out there?

Alternatively, any EFers with an empty parking space want to make an easy 100 chf? Even if you live a bit outside (and own your own car) and didn't mind driving us to the airport (and IDEALLY picking us up when we return), that could work.

Buahaha. Which country do you think you're in? So you want someone to lend you a parking space for 100 chuffs, and expect that person to both drive you to the airport AND pick you up...? Welcome to Switzerland.

For that my friend you would have to pay more than a 100 bucks! But the idea is not bad, at least it is better than those bloodsucking parking houses.

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

at 350chf, ANYTHING you choose will be cheaper than that.

I did an online taxi estimate for you, so you can forget that. (it's about 350chf one way)

Here is also an old thread discussing the same situation.

To be honest, I'd personally go with the train option.
The train pulls directly into the airport under "check in 3".
No need for a car drop off or otherwise.

From Basel you can take the IR from Bassel HB to the Zurich Flughafen without any changes (see previous link). With a half tax card it will set you back about 20chf.
I guess it all depends on how much luggage you have, and if you truly have an aversion to public transport or not.

With a lot of luggage and a fear of 'common people', I'd hire a car and drop it off at the airport and arrange another pick up upon your return.
.... see if you can leave your car at the car hire place perhaps? (or at least a taxi there and back.

Whatever you decide, it's clearly stupid to park your car at Zurich Flughafen for a month.

How does this have anything to do with what country I'm in? I'm making a plea to the general kindness of this community, which many of us benefit from and contribute to in MUCH more charitable and selfless ways than this.

And no I don't expect anyone to do anything. I don't think the idea is so far-fetched. If the space is being wasted, what's the harm in renting it out for a month? Many people here are struggling to make ends meet, so this is effortless week or two of groceries.

I'm traveling from outside Geneva in Gex, France. There are no convenient public transport options, so I would need to drive and park somewhere, whether Zurich or not. In any case, the flight leaves midday, so public transport would take too long, and would further add hotel expenses, bringing me back to square one.

Very fair point

Let's assume square one to be "350chf"

Anything under this is a win (time and convenience permitting)

In your case, I'd still perhaps look at hire car options (the day before).... the cheapest bunger you can get with airport drop off.

Alternatively, I'm sure you could offer a mate a few bottles of wine to help you out (this doesn't help on the return I know - but perhaps a pick up at Geneva HB?)

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

Yes bro you are right, we are all here to help each other.
What is your maximum that you are able to afford? I might be able to help, but I will have to confirm with my landlord for the availability of another parking spot (and agree to rent it for one month only).

I live in Effretikon, Zurich which is 10-15 mins far from the airport. It is quite calm and safe here.

Also, what are the dates exactly?

Regards

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

Well, IDEALLY free But in all seriousness I'd like to shell out around 100-150.

Dates aren't finalized yet, but likely from 28Feb/1 Mar - 30/31 Mar.

OK, I will get back to you soon. I will talk to my landlord.
I will try to drop you and pick you up to and from the airport given that I can.

But if I agree with my landlord and the spot gets reserved for you, please do not break the deal (else I will end up looking bad in front of my landlord and paying the rent fee myself). I guess that is fair!

Of course, but please consult with me before agreeing! Once you and I have made a deal, it will be final.

Re: parking near zurich airport for one month

OK, I talked with out landlord.
They were not very enthusiastic as the minimum rent period that they write a contract for is 1 year and all that talk. However, I convinced them that it is a favor for a friend of mine and after negotiating the renting fee, they agreed on 160 CHF down from 200 CHF.

I will drop you and pick you up with my car - for free ofcourse. DO NOT say that EF members did not help

Let me know If I should give them confirmation.

I think you should leave your car keys with me just for precautionary measures, otherwise it will not be opened or moved.
