A Little Bit of Help with the ZVV in Zurich please

Hi,

Can someone clued up tell me if this sounds right?

Im in Oerlikon, and i need to move around Zones 10 and 21 on a regular basis. On top of that i need to use the SBB train to get from Oerlikon to the Airport.

I plan to be here from 3 months to possibly years, but would like to work on a monthly basis.

I think that i need a 3 Zone ZVV card that comes in at 115CHF each month.

Is this correct?

Also, ive heard of half price cards. I can see these on SBB ticket shop for 110CHF....is this the one i want?

3 months with no 1/2 card is: 345CH
3 months with 1/2 card is: 345 / 2 = 172.5 + 110CHF for the card = 282.5CHF

Wondering why the woman behind the ticket desk didnt offer me the 1/2 card when i told her what i was trying to do....perhaps ive calculated it wrong or something.

Thanks in advance.

Monthly passes already incorporate the half fare price, you don't get an additional discount.

If you plan to travel around Switzerland, however, it would then make very much sense to get the half fare card as well.

If you get an annual pass it will definitely work out cheaper. You can return it at any point and they will refund your money for the remaining months on the ticket.

3 zones is correct (zone 10 is the city of Zurich and counts as 2 zones, zone 21 is the airport).

Which Monthly/Annual pass do i need?

The personal or the transferrrable?

I presume that its only the transferrrable pass that you can give back to them for a refund? Or is it both.

ZVV Network Pass 3 Zones

http://www.zvv.ch/en/tickets/tickets...v-networkpass/

Monthly CHF 115.00 2nd Class personal ie non-transferable

Annual CHF1035.00 2nd Class personal ie non-transferable

In case of any doubts, reach them online and ask eg about possible refunds on an annual pass:

http://www.zvv.ch/en/contact/index.html

If not travelling before 9am on weekdays, the ZVV 9 Uhr pass is cheaper ( restrictions removed on weekends ).
