Self-drive minibus hire in Geneva?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of sensibly-priced self-drive minibus hire in/around Geneva? I have a full D1 licence and can drive vehicles with up to 17 seats (incl the driver). So far, the largest vehicle I've been able to find is a 12 seater from Europcar...at 2300 per week. Ouch!

I've considered driving a minibus from the UK, but I'd much prefer a LHD vehicle on those twisty mountain roads.

I have been trawling the internet and sending off speculative emails. However, I'd be grateful if anyone could offer any advice.

Many thanks,
Des

PS Been coming to Switzerland for 15 years now...

Re: Self-drive minibus hire in Geneva?

You will need to tell them you have a D1.

Here is a company with offices in Lausanne and Geneva. They say the vehicle needs to be picked up in Lausanne (35 min by train from the airport). I imagine they don't have space for it in Geneva.

There will be advertising on the vehicle (not sure if this matters to you).

See this link (bottom of the page) for the 15 pass van. CHF 940 per week and 700 free km.

Re: Self-drive minibus hire in Geneva?

I used Hans Hauert, he is a farmer and this seems to be his second income, he is north of Bern, near a suburban train station.

He really has kept things simple. You sign nothing, give him a deposit, and he returns it when you bring the minibus back, no complicated paperwork.

http://map.search.ch/Suberfeld-21,-3262-Suberg

Renault Master T35 2.8 TDi, 17 seats, one day rental, 120 Km, SFr 150,--

Insurance,
included is full vehicle cover and 3rd party insurance:
not include are first SFr 1000 damage to van, and SFr 500 damages to 3rd party claim.

Another company, just north of Fribourg, EasyLoc, has 7 different mini-buses, 14 seaters,
