Damaged car picked up from service today

Hi - wondered if anyone could help. I picked up my car from its service today and saw a big scratch on the front bumper.

I spoke to the senior guy there and nobody was admitting liability. So I decided to leave the car there until tomorrow as I picked up the car fairly late and hope there is a more informed staff member there then. He seemed to be implying it was there before I dropped it off and I am certain it wasn't.

Anybody had a similar experience and could provide some advice? I intend to call the insurance company shortly.

Thanks.

Re: Damaged car picked up from service today

Got there this morning and thankfully they agreed to do the work.

Checked with insurance company and it wd have been up to me had they not admitted. Got the feeling they still felt they hadnt done it but did it anyway. Sure it wd not happen in UK, they wd not have done the fix.

Relief.

on a real world level again, when ever my car goes for service I make sure to walk around the car with 1 of the service guys or manager and point out any marks i currently have and they are also on a rental car style sheet.... they freak out and dont want to sign it but once explained its their benefit as well as mine they calm down.

dodgy places with something to hide will refuse

Re: Damaged car picked up from service today

A Honda bike dealer in Edinburgh scratch the fairing on my wifes scooter, and refused to pay, saying the burden of proof was on me to prove the scratch was not there when I turned up.

Luckily, I had a picture of the scooter from 3 weeks earlier, which showed no scratch..but they still refused, saying it would need to have been taken 24hrs or less before coming to them.

I escallated, but still got nothing. Eventually got a token offer of a replacement helmet of no greater value than £100. I was insulted, and refused - I wanted the panel fixed, not a new helmet - especially since you can get a new panel for the same value.

Needless to say, when I was on the hunt for a replacement for the CBR6, they offered me a blade. I told them to **** off, and told them why.

Re: Damaged car picked up from service today

So did they sort the Porsche out in the end? I found in the UK there was less an eye on customer service as there is here.

This was an AMAG garage, so I guess they weighed it up and realised I that as I was a returning customer they would fix it anyway (sorry using the full 'would' now - back on a normal computer as opposed to a smartphone).

That's a good tip thanks, I will now walk around in the future. The big scratch across the front I couldn't miss last night.
