What about a Mini Cooper S with automatic gearbox.
You can get the clubman with more doors but with a Mini you might get away with 3 doors.

I've driven the Twingo RS and the Suzuki Swift Gti and what I like most about these two cars is the linear throttle response and high revving normally aspirated engines. Its a more racey feel than the super/turbo charged TSI units in the VAG range (Polo, Ibiza etc..). Having said that the DSG auto gearbox on the VAG cars is best in class. The Mini Cooper S Auto is a standard torque converter, which is a little better than the older CVT Autos, but still not a patch on the dual clutch DSG system.
