Scooter MFK question

Does a scooter (125cc) need both mirrors to pass an MFK? My right-hand one was snapped off by some lag, and I haven't got time to fix it before the test. I'm guessing the left one is more important for traffic.

As far as I know, yes you need both.

Borrow one from someone!

I do have a replacement mirror ready, but as the last one was snapped off, the stem is still stuck in the threaded socket. So it needs to be drilled out and the socket re-tapped.

I might see if I can get the MFK rescheduled, its on a Wednesday morning so I might be able to argue that I have a job

I've got drill, taps, and helicoils, but I'm a bit far.

Cheers mate, there is a mountain bike shop in my village so I'll see if they can do it for me for an hourly fee.

You can probably get it out without retapping just as long as it's not too tight a fit in the thread - try drilling the centre of the remaining stub out then sticking something in the hole with which to twist the stub and unscrew it. That's assuming it's snapped flush with the top of the hole - if there's bit of the original mirror stem sticking out then you could try cutting a groove in it with a hacksaw and screwing it out with a screwdriver blade.

Almost anything'll do if the stem is as large and as loose as they usually are. Like as not the tip of a screwdriver. If you're lucky it's the one with the bastard thread and you could just put a large screw in the hole and turn that.
