Car Window Tinting %

Hello All,

So I'm going to get my rear car windows tinted to block out the sun and reduce the heat for my daughter in the back. The question is, what % tint to go for?

I'm torn between 15% (i.e. 15% light passing through) and 35% (i.e. 35% light passing through). I'm concerned 15% might be a little dark for night driving, but wondered if anyone had either % done here and what it's like for driving in Switzerland, and for reducing heat/sun glare for kids?

Cheers.

I think I have 20% on an Audi A4 wagon. It is really dark and you need to be much more careful at night (especially when backing up). I would suggest the less dark option.

What about using those stick on (with a rubber sucker) window shades? We used a couple of them when my son was small and it worked okay. He could still see through them but it shielded him from the glare of the sun.

Thanks. When I compared the little samples I couldn't see much of a difference, and I have parking sensors so wasn't so concerned about parking - more general driving at night to see cars behind me etc.

Hi, we tried those but it was a pain in the backside to get them to fit the windows, and then the sun just shone through the small angled glass just behind the rear door window.

Re: Car Window Tinting %

I always think of cars with tinted windows as rape vans, don't know why.
