Re: "Forwards Parking Only"

So would they actually fine you if you dare parking the wrong way? (or is it a ground for immediate cancellation of your residence permit?)

Far worse, your colleagues and neighbours will shun you!

They park in an oblique line, at approximately 45 degrees to the forwards' line.

Unless they are parking up against de'fence and then they park in a straight line

(Unless they're English parkers and they'll try to parrellel park - you know, coming in from the side )

That's so 1970s parking.
Is more usually 3 parked very close and in a straight line, then a huge gap till the next space, leaving enough room for a very nippy car to come in at the last second at an acute angle from the outside to take the remaining space.

Re: "Forwards Parking Only"

This is slightly OT but why do Swiss people park right next to another car, even when there are plenty of other places to park, where there are no cars around?

Not just Swiss, pretty well evreywhere. Basic self-preservation. Find a better car than your own and park next to it in the hope that any passing vandals will do that one instead of yours.

Alternatively the hope that if someone else is parked there then parking isn't forbidden on that spot.

If we're playing the what-if game, I'll chime in (unconstructively) and ask:

What if I have side exhausts?
(see Cobra, Viper, some 'Vettes (70s?) etc)
I'm pretty sure that side exhausts are illegal here...

I don't know as I always try to park at least one empty space away from the nearest car. Makes it easier to get out and back in and reduces the risk of dents and scratches.

Re: "Bitte Vorwärts Parkieren"

I don't front park anymore. I've found myself stuck in the car one too many times.

I always get so confused by those signs, when I park in my Zündapp Janus.

i think for some people it's easier to aim, you don't have to watch the lines on the ground and you get the right angle easy (you have the car as a comparison)
