Or even better:

http://matrix.itasoftware.com/

Try even Business class fares as you might find some really good deals...

PS. Even though it is called itasoftware, there is nothing to install, as it is web based search engine which is great.

Thou shall not have any other search engines before www.momondo.com

https://www.google.ch/flights as well actually, excellent for just putting in Zurich and then look where flights are cheap.

Re: Where to look for Cheap flights to India

I agree with Theroz. Basically the "Google Flights" site for your search and covers all airlines , not just partners.

Useful features is being able to the number of stops, length of journey etc., and the map feature also shows nearby airports which might work more cheaply at your destination, and also the graphs showing price changes by date

https://www.google.ch/flights/

Does what all the others do, and then takes you direct to the airline site for purchase without an additional fee, so your booking, invoicing, API, blah blah blah are all done at one site (as oppose to booking via a 3rd party site and having all that extra hassle).

It used to be different but I now find (almost always) the airline itself has the best deals, as opposed to 3rd parties. Happy to be proven wrong though by the Legends :-)

Re: Where to look for Cheap flights to India

Absolutely agree with you, airlines seems to be offering better deals themselves than third party ones unless there is a special cash back scheme or special discount. Mostly even if they showcase lower prices during the final checkout the prompt "these fares are no longer available and the revised higher fare" come up.

And, unless the fair is significantly cheaper, I would rather pay for the convenience of dealing directly with the airline in case of any issues. I do not want to deal with an agent when I am stuck in some random airport at a very weird time.

Re: Where to look for Cheap flights to India

Hi- I usually spend a lot of time researching when booking my trips to India! Sometimes i find prices are better and flights are more convinient when you go directly through the airline websites rather than the 'cheap' sites. Often some of the websites my quote good prices but which may include ridiculous lay overs etc. Also, in the case of skyscanner for example, it is simply a search engine that will lead you to the cheap travel sites. I have had really bad experiences with some of those in the past as you need to contact them everytime you wish to make a change. these companies are often based in Spain and impossible to reach by phone unless you are prepared to wait 4 hours in line and are fluent in Spanish!
Good luck

Re: Where to look for Cheap flights to India

Whenever you are checking sites (especially the airline sites) be sure to clear the computer cache after each search or they will often come back with higher prices and fewer options each time you search.

I am not sure if this is an issue with sites such as the Google search site mentioned above.

Re: Where to look for Cheap flights to India

i recommend kayak.com or mcflight.de

Keep in mind , that it is possible to save a lot of money if you check out other airports for departure as well, like milan malpensa or schiphol(amsterdam)

Generally, yes. However, there are 2 exceptions:
- most airlines won't interline except with code share partners, and one-way tickets often have a premium. For example: you find a cheap flight outbound with Swiss and a cheap flight inbound with BA. To buy as two one-ways attracts a significant premium. A 3rd party can sometimes combine onto a single ticket, with a lower or no premium.
- occasionally, 3rd party bookers may have residual tickets from a cheaper fare class. I've never figured out why this is, but let's say the last super-cheap ticket has disappeared from Lufthansa's website - sometimes I see it still available from Expedia (I've done this before when booking for a group of 4 and with only 3 cheaper seats available direct - 3 direct, 1 from 3rd party).

Not for Google - it's based on raw ITA data. Google flights is by far the best way still for that reason, but be aware that some airlines and combinations don't feed through. Qatar, for example, always seem to show better options direct than via Google flights...
