Adding D1 category to a swiss driving license

Hi all,
We came to switzerland 2 years ago from the UK, we transfered our UK driving license's across to the Swiss driving license. However we did not have the Category D1 put on the Swiss license although i still have the orignal paper copy of my UK license with this category on.

I have asked the Strassenverksamt if i can now have this category put on my license as i have been offered a part time job. They have said that i now need to do a full theory test, driving test and have a medical.
My question is has anybody else had this problem and how did they get around it.
If i need to do a test could i go back to the UK to do the test as it is cheaper their even though i still have this category on uk license and will the Swiss authorities except me doing it this way.

Thanks in advance for help and suggestions.
