What type of ticket/pass/travelcard?

Hi all! This is my first time in this forum. I am a Greek neurosurgeon coming to Zurich for 1 year in the university hospital.
During the next 1 year I will need to use the trams in the center of Zurich, visit Oerlikon (Lidl, Aldi etc) and travel to Zurich Airport once or maximum 2 times per month.
Does anybody know if there is a specific type of ticket (for 1 month or preferably 1 year) that could cover my needs (trams+Oerlikon+Airport) cheaply?
Coming from Greece you know...
Thank you in advance.

Re: What type of ticket/pass/travelcard?

For Zurich (hospital and Oerlikon) you need a "Zone 10" Ticket. The airport is further out and if you only go there twice a month it's not worth to include that in your monthly or yearly ticket but to just pay a "Zusatzzone" for when you need it. More information about the prices of the different travel passes http://www.zvv.ch/en/routes-and-zones/

Good luck with the move!

Re: What type of ticket/pass/travelcard?

^^^^what they said.

If you are coming for a year you probably want to get out and about on you free days. May I recommend a halbtax, it's about CHF150 a year and gets you discounts on most public transport and lifts in Switzerland. Not always half price you understand, but good discounts.
A single anschlussbillet (extra zone) to the airport would be 2.90 with halbtax.

Thanks for the reply.
However, I don't understand this: a halbtax is not enough on its own. I must first get this and then buy my everyday tickets (with the discount due to the halbtax)? Can it be combined with a monthly pass?
Again thanks.

Re: What type of ticket/pass/travelcard?

Many thanks. Do you know if a halbtax can be used WITH a monthly pass for Zone 10?

Re: What type of ticket/pass/travelcard?

No, halbtax can not be used for season tickets, because they are already cheaper.

Re: What type of ticket/pass/travelcard?

Please correct me if I got it wrong:

http://www.zvv.ch/en/tickets/tickets...#Local_network

Based on this site, I should get an annual travel card for 2 zones (since Zurich nr10 zone counts as 2 zones...) which if it is personalised it costs 711 francs.
Furthermore, should i need to travel to the airport (zone 21) I should get a zone upgrade ticket for 2 zones: 4.10 francs (each time)?

Assuming all these are correct, does anybody know if this travelcard can be bought in a reduced price if a halbtax is first bought?

Thank you!

Re: What type of ticket/pass/travelcard?

You are right.
4.10 single (within the hour) or 2.90 with halbtax.
You can not get season (monthly / yearly) tickets with a halbtax. They are already reduced.

Re: What type of ticket/pass/travelcard?

The Zone 10 pass is already discounted, so the halbtax will not get you anything further discounted. So: 711 CHF.

With the halbtax, the extension to the airport would be 2.90 CHF. If you think you will do any other travel in Switzerland, it's advisable to get the halbtax. For example, a one-way ticket to Bern without the halbtax is 47 CHF, while with the halbtax, it's 23.50 CHF. To Geneva, it's 82 CHF versus 41 CHF. Etc.

Re: What type of ticket/pass/travelcard?

If your worktime starts after 09 am, then it would be better to take 6 zone pass (Zone 10 plus all the zones around zone 10 ). U can use the same for travel to Airport. The price is same as that of a Zone 10 normal pass. Only problem is that on weekdays u can use this pass only after 09 am.
I think u can get a halbtax for 135 chf ( opt for Visa Prepaid ).

I see. Well, since I will be traveling both before and after 9, it seems to me that this option must be ruled out. Thank you.
