As for when the license suspension hits you, it may help calling the administration. There are no guarantees but you may find an open ear if you can provide job related reasoning.

| | Speeding Fine
After 35 years with a clean driving record, a camera on Bernerstrasse Nord caught me in a hire car in July doing 70 in a 60 zone :-( The first I heard was a letter / payment slip in the mail today with a bill for CHF250
Can anyone recommend a firm of expensive lawyers who can get the fine reduced / quashed?
Cheers,
Nick

Don't take this lying down.
Obviously the first thing to do is ask the police to provide evidence that the camera was properly calibrated.
Also go and measure the distance between all the speed limit signs to ensure they comply with the regulations.
Remember, YOU are the victim here.

It was my first time driving in a year. And everyone else was driving a similar speed. How come they were not fined. It is so not fair!

Rule #1 in Switzerland: Do not contest speeding tickets or end up in hell's kitchen.
It'll only make everything more expensive, you won't win.
Only way out is to leave the country. But do so very quickly and don't come back for 10 years.
Ignore at your own peril.
250 for 10 is a bargain!

Probably just a backlog caused by C-19 restrictions, plus of course they'd have first had to contact the rental agency to get the name of the driver. Two months doesn't sound that long, TBH.

Damn! I'll probably get a bill from the hire car company at this rate.

Expert tip: wear your face mask over your eyes when speeding so that you can't be recognized on the photo.

Easy - don't pay it.
Simply leave Switzerland and let the demands roll in to your old address...

Black up, go to the police station, and ask them what's going on.
Ask them to provide the photo, and watch their confused faces.
The only flaw in this plan, is if you have blond hair.

Seems a bit harsh
I got a 160.- fine ta few weeks ago, 96 in an 80 zone.
Maybe mine was a smart camera which knew i was just overtaking.

The shutter speed of speed cameras is 1/1000th of a second.
If you get a photo in the post, send it back. Picture quality is rubbish and they're a bit too expensive.
If your car can travel half a metre between exposure, then it will not be possible to recognise the characters on your number plate.
1,800 km/hr should do it.
For safety reasons, if you're eating your Big Mac and fries at the same time, you should hold your pint in your other hand and use your knees to steer.
P.S. They can't take your license away if you don't have one anyway.
