Real world data for my (used) Tesla Model S 85 which we drove for 3 years and 95000 km

Purchase price (3 years ago): 63k

Annual costs:
Insurance, full casco Zurich: 2000 (we're in our late 20's)
Road tax: 750 (heavy car in BL, some cantons it would be 0)
Maintenance and repairs: ~700
Fuel: 0
Tires: 500/year (800 for a new set)
Annual cost w/o depreciation: 3950

Depreciation is the big bit which cost about 25k in the past 3 years.

Per KM cost ends up being extremely low across 3 years at 39 cents per km which as I calculate is on par with a golf GTD. We only managed to get about 200 CHF of fines in that time thanks to the cruise control.
Crikey, zero fuel cost ? Thatís amazing. Do you have a big solar installation at home or something ?

Why your fuel is 0 CHF? I guess it has to be charged somewhere and you don't own a house with photovoltaics?

I don't even have any kind of charging at home. Ikea has free charging and I have free unlimited supercharging.

Only issue is that if you buy a Tesla today it doesn't include free unlimited supercharging

Model S and X both re-introduced free supercharging August 2019 onwards. So only Model S and X between Jan 2017 and Aug 2019 don't have free supercharging. Of course all Model 3 pay 30 cents per kwh in Switzerland.

Whatever the cost, a real man needs a car. Possibly petrol, not diesel or electric.

Re: The costs of owning a car in Switzerland?

Why should somebody own a car, when he is on its own, works within 7 km of his flat, has no special hobbies and 2 supermarkets in the range of 1 km ?

Only to show other people, that he is capable of affording this luxury ?
