BMW M3 service near Zurich

OK have been searching the forums and Google but have not found any good advice:

I am looking to service my somewhat older BMW M3 (E46 from 2001). I would prefer an independent trusted garage as servicing a 10+ years old car at an official dealership probably does not make sense.

The M-series BMWs have their own quirks and require their special oil so I would want someone who specializes in BMW and the M-series.

This is a bigger service (oil change, brake fluid change, coolant change, oil level sender seems faulty and should be replaced).

I live in Zurich. Something across the border in Germany would be fine as well (and probably quite a bit cheaper).

Any garages known to be specialized in M-cars and something people here have had positive experience with?

Re: BMW M3 service near Zurich

I have similar question as stated above and mine is e 46 2003 model. I will appreciate any positive response.. My car is due for big service and would be nice to get it done a bit cheaper at a local specialized garage than an authorized! Thanks in advance

Re: BMW M3 service near Zurich

I was hoping somebody might have some wisdom to share on this post - I have an E39 M5 which is due an Inspection I plus also a few other bits that require attention. I have always had it serviced by BMW dealers here but was a bit disappointed by their expertise recently (granted the car is two models out of production so guess they don't have too many mechanics familiar with the type anymore) so was looking to find a specialist either in Zurich or even across the border in Germany (expertise the main criteria, not cost saving).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I was looking for specialists across the border recently and stumbled across the website for Auer Gruppe in Konstanz.

Anyone had service/repairs done here?

Re: BMW M3 service near Zurich

Service wise they were fantastic. Very friendly and helpful, and even called me a taxi to get into Konstanz while they did the work. They are BMW specialists and I can only assume the work they did was good. The garage was full of Swiss plated cars.

My only gripe was the cost. I just had the basic oil+filter service and the bill was 300 euros. No other work was done. This was the first time I have serviced the car, so I have nothing to compare it against, but this seems a lot. They gave me a receipt to claim my tax back on the border though (but I didn't bother claiming as it was only 20 eur).

In short, if someone tells me that is a good price, and much cheaper than in Switzerland, I would definitely recommend them. Otherwise maybe not. A German at work recommended the bmw dealership in Waldshut.

Re: BMW M3 service near Zurich

Did you just go because you hoped it was cheaper than Switzerland? Or did you get any quotes etc first? cheers

Hi,
This looks to be and old post but maybe it can be recycled .

Now since we cannot exit Switzerland for "non essential" things, can someone recommend me a local garage that specialises on M cars? E46 M3 in particular.
