Re: Has anyone ever used Generali for car insurance?

I have just signed a new contract with ELVIA and terminated the old one with Zurich half a year ago playing by the book in terms of required notice period. In my case, I believe it was a good riddance considering a huge saving on premiums given the car's age and mileage.

By the way, in my recent experience the ElVIA's agents speak English but the policy and documentation will be in one of the local languages only. IMHO, it still worth the hassle - if you ask me.

Also the Generali quote, that I received last week, was second best offer from www.comparis.ch. The latter one being slightly more expensive than the former one (by CHF100 per annum). As soon as you have requested the quotes, one of the agents will contact you within a few days. They are very diligent to sign a contract.

Well done. We are in the process of trying to extricate ourselves from Zurich who are doing everything they can to say that we must stay with them, even though we gave notice of termination in writing in advance and even though their car insurance pricing is a total rip off. Zurich Insurance's attitude is arrogant and you did well to leave them

Re: Has anyone ever used Generali for car insurance?

It's fairly easy !

Lets say your husband owns the car, he sells it to you, you go to Service des Autos and get new grey card with your prefered insurance company

Zurich insurance have to re-imburse what ever is left on insurance pro-rata.

Problem solved.

What if you wish to preserve the licence plate number?

I'm currently trying to switch the insurer, but wanted to avoid switching said plate number.

The plate belongs to you, respectively your Service des autos, absolutely nothing to do with the insurance company.

The plate goes with you, even when you change cars

If you mean, keep driving the same plate number after selling the car to your OH, you can transfer them in most (all?) Cantons.
Google "zürich autonummer übertragung formular" or equivalent.
