Driving bike on EU plates (12 month surpassed+13.20A OK+MFK Appt)

Hi all.

Is possible to use the bike while I'm still in the process of getting the Swiss plates?

The present situation is:
-I've been in Swizerland with the B Permit for more than a year.
-Bike Imported and I have the document 13.20A with the Swiss Stammnumer
-I have a valid insurance from the country of origin
-I have an Appt. to go for the MFK on July
-I have the insurance proposal from a Swiss insurance company
-The bike is Street legal (MFK from the country of origin)

The big question is... Can I ride that bike while waiting for the MFK appointment?

Best regards.

Juisjuis.

Check the import certificate - I believe (to be confirmed) you have to get on to Swiss plates and proper registration within 6 months of import ...

Thanks - so what happens if 12 months over? Does the tax then become due? We were told out import certificate, as part of our move here, was valid for 12 months only (previously thought it was 6 months, but checked) or tax would be due if it is not Swiss registered on time.

If the OP owned the bike for 6 months before moving to CH no tax is payable. The customs form is the permission to use the bike by a resident, it should state how long it can be used which is a minimum of 12 months when someone comes to live here, but in some cases can be extended to 18 months,

More information...

I purchased the bike long ago and I've been here for a year and a half.

But still not sure if I can ride it or not. Of course I will ride it for the MFK to the traffic office in Zurich, but the thing is if I can ride just for fun till the MFK test day comes.

Thx for your info.

Juisjuis.

If you have been here for 18 months you can't ride it at all, that includes going for the MFK.
