Middle lane driving - the answer!

After being somewhat perplexed by the seemingly uncontrolled magnetic attraction of automobiles towards the middle lane on three-lane motorways, I have discovered (during conversation in a car journey with a Swiss person on [well, the middle lane of] a motorway) the reason why it happens:-

"It's because we're Swiss and we have to remain neutral!"

Probably the most apt description yet - certainly made me laugh!
