Driving Permit - change of address/canton?

I swapped my UK driving licence for a Swiss one back in 2002, and I did it at the cantonal office in Vaud. Amazingly its been 4 years since I returned to the UK and I still have the same Swiss driver's licence; but my procrastination has paid off since I'm now returning back to Switzerland and so don't need to go through that rigmarole again.

The question is how do I change the address on the driver's licence? and is there an issue of me also changing Canton i.e. Vaud > Basel

TIA

You've been in Switzerland long enough to know the answer to this one!

Führerausweis-Kantonswechsel Basel , perhaps?

Gonna cost ya CHF 75 to change Kantons.

And a beer for me for covering you, lazy bones

Re: Driving Permit - change of address/canton?

Sorry to tack this on, but felt it was more appropriate than starting a whole new question...

I "forgot" to change my driving license address when we moved a year and half ago from Zurich to Basel. I really don't drive very often as I don't have a car, and don't really care to rent one / Mobility very often either...

is there some mandate that I have to change my address?? can I do it when I have a bit more cash flow? 75 CHF might break the kitty bank....

if I am pressed to rent a car anywhere then might I get into trouble with the wrong address? it's just a hypothetical now, wondering what the wise ones in EF think...

Re: Driving Permit - change of address/canton?

This may sound like a repeat question, but I've moved from BS -> BL and my Allianz insurance advisor assures me that I only have to change the plates, my driving licence (which states BS as the issuing authority) remains the same and is valid throughout CH.

When I originally changed my Canton Vaud paper licence to a snazzy credit card one in Basel I was charged CHF 75, but now I'm not sure whether I had paid the money for the change from paper to plastic or whether that included a change of issuing authority.

Re: Driving Permit - change of address/canton?

If you move to another canton, you have to collect the new plates at the "Strassenverkehrsamt" within 14 days of the move (or you will be fined).

That's only if you have a car. If your Swiss license is credit card format it is good forever and you won't need to do anything.
