Reputable Suzuki dealer in Vaud?

Hi all,

I have received a letter in the post from Suzuki GB telling me that my beloved Gixxer needs a safety recall doing (front master cylinder replacement).
I called Suzuki GB and explained that I live in CH now and they said it is no bother and that it is a global recall so Suzuki CH can do the work.

We recently moved from the Zuercheroberland to the Nyon area so can anyone recommend a reputable Suzuki dealer down here to get to know? I want to use the same dealer for servicing and parts etc in the future and I would like to find a decent sized dealer and trust their work, it is kinda important on a bike...

Many thanks and keep it rubber side down,

Philippe

Re: Reputable Suzuki dealer in Vaud?

I can't help locating a Suzuki dealer I'm afraid... But just as a positive point, I too had a safety recall on my UK BMW car and did the same as you by contacting BMW UK. They said to take it to the local dealer here etc. Booked it in, and it was done within an hour while I waited with no fuss, and it wasn't even a recall that was relevant to the rest of Europe (only RHD cars).

What Gixxer is it by the way - I always wanted a K7 GSXR 1000... ;-)

Re: Reputable Suzuki dealer in Vaud?

Thanks for the reassurance Dave. I hope my issue is resolved as easily.

A Gixxer is a GSX-R. Mine is almost your dream bike, a GSX-R 750 K7. I thought the litre bike was just a little too mental for road use. 750cc is more than enough to do the necessary.
Any time you want to come and oggle and talk bikes, you are more than welcome.

No recommendation, but just a couple of names in GVA since you are located close to Nyon.

  • Endurance Moto
  • Suzuki motorbikes dealer. A wide selection of motorbikes and scooters available. Open from Monday to Friday 07:30 to 18:30, closed on Wednesdays from 12:15 to 13:30. At 51 Rue de Lausanne, 1201 Geneve.
  • Motomixte SA

Specialists in Suzuki motorbikes. Also provides repair and maintenance services. At 5 Rue Pestalozzi, 1202 Geneve.

Re: Reputable Suzuki dealer in Vaud?

Thanks for the info V.
I did have a look on the Suzuki CH website and found a nice list of dealers in the area (including GVA) but was hoping to hear from someone who is happy with one of them from personal experience.
Fingers crossed, someone will pop up...

I had a K4 1000, and found that conversely it was less mental than the 750, as it had even more low-down grunt so the temptation/need to rev high into the mental zone was lower. I used to love the way I could leave it in 6th gear and just open the throttle and watch it climb smoothly from around 50kph all the way up to Eeek speeds.

Not in the Vaud though, so can't help with a dealer. But it's unlikely that you'll have that much of a choice. I recall that there was only really one proper Suzuki motorbike dealer in Basel, for example (i.e. one doing proper bikes, not just scooters and the like).

I had to sell this to move here to Switzerland... A 1000cc bike is Never too much if you ride sensibly IMHO ... ;-)

Used to love the sound from the twin Akra's too...

Unless anyone suggests otherwise, I'd probably just go to the largest main Suzuki dealer in Geneva. I can't imagine they're going to get it wrong.

Re: Reputable Suzuki dealer in Vaud?

Loving the stealth black there Dave.
I was thinking the same about the main dealer in GVA but easier said than done. Without trawling through the list of dealers and Google streetviewing each one, it's hard to know which is a real dealer and what is a shed.

Perhaps I will call Suzuki CH for their input...

Re: Reputable Suzuki dealer in Vaud?

Hi Dave,

I can see no phone number for Suzuki CH on their website, only a fax number or email.
To that end, I called what looks like the largest dealer in Vaud which was one near Lausanne. After quizzing him on reputability etc, he was perfectly happy to acecpt an email of my grey papers, copy of letter from Suzuki GB etc and send it off to Suzuki CH to get it all authorised.

The only fly in the ointment is that they do not offer a collection service for the bike. Firstly, I am a little hesitant about riding it given the safety recall however I know that is an outside chance but the main thing is that I wanted to find a dealer who can look after her in the future, and that includes services etc. In my world, dealers come and collect my toys and then deliver them back.... Am I expecting too much to find a dealer in CH willing to do that?

Maybe the search will continue....

I am very doubtful that a city dealer is going to offer collection but perhaps I need to call around.

Even better, now that they are back from lunch, the phone number on their website doesn't connect.... strange goings on.

This is their fax number if it was!

The importing company on behalf of Suzuki appears to be called Frankonia AG

They are on: +41 44 431 65 11
