Auto part store, looking for front light bulb

Hi everyone,

The front light on my subaru just went dead yesterday. Would like to try to replace it myself since it doesnt seem too complex. Anyone knows where can you buy this type of parts here in switzerland, preferably not an online store, since I need to fix it very quickly.

Thanks for your suggestions,

Ema

Re: Auto part store, looking for front light bulb

Try a larger Coop bau hobby they seem to have a larger selection of car bits but it seems here that the dealers do most of the work. There is not the same car DIY culture as in the UK.

Derendinger.

Re: Auto part store, looking for front light bulb

Have you actually looked at how to change the lamp bulb on the Subaru? On some cars it is a major problem, on some cars only the complete unit can be replaced.

Send me a pm. I only know stores near Zurich, one in Dietikon, and one in Adliswil. I can buy the part, if it is not too expensive, mail it to you, and you can owe me a beer/case/the actual money, when I am in your neighborhood next time.

Re: Auto part store, looking for front light bulb

Yes Sprinzb, I looked it up online. It looks fairly simple and that s why I was thinking of doing it myself (in addition to the fact that when you work monday through Friday, it is not easy to find the time to go to a garage).
Went to coop today and didn't find anything there, didnt have a chance to go to Landi.
Looked up ATU and I think there is none in my area (i am located near Lucerne).
Confloozed, thanks for the offer, I will send you a pm. I will also try to contact local garages tomorrow. This is my luck since this is happening just a few days before I have to make a 6 hour night drive to Paris...
Thanks everyone for all your suggestions

Re: Auto part store, looking for front light bulb

This is in order of increasing price for same bulb :
ATU germany (if you can go there)
ATU ch
Jumbo
Coop Bau hobby
BP gas station

Bulb change is simple process - I changed recently for my car.
You just need to know the model number for mine it was H7 -55W.

Cheers

Actual stores, as they supply most independent repair shops.

There's one near me, and many up north.

Even one in Luzern, however only open weekdays during normal hours.

I've even got weird stuff there, such as slave cylinder for my sidecar, made to order brake lines, etc.

Re: Auto part store, looking for front light bulb

Ottos sell car bulbs fairly cheap. Great for my old H7 type that seems to need replacing every single year. I swear the computer is programmed to make them blow once a year, around May.

Believe me changing a burnt out bulb is not that easy, at least on my car and you need tools. I had the exact same problem in summer so I went to Jumbo bought a set of new bulb (they are very expensive ), an employee helped me choose the right one . I tried to change it myself but I couldn't figure out how to do it , so I had to ask my friend. He had to remove the battery because it was covering the driver's side headlight opening. It took him 30 minutes to replace both bulbs.

Then you have a strange car.

On most it's a two minute job.

Changing brake pads is a 30 minute job.

If you want to replace my pads I'll drive down to Ticino for it and offer, well something cheaper then the service here. It's the only thing I don't like to try to do on a car. I have assisted in like 50 different pad changes, I just hate being involved in something that can be life threatening. I know, it's stupid.
