| | Changes to parking in Zurich airport
It was possible to park outside the arrivals in Zurich for a short time, this has now been removed as they are doing some building work.
My friend who was collecting me, decided to go to departures left the car and come down to meet me. My flight was late. CHF 35.00 for just over half an hour.
You have been warned. Maybe the same system will be installed in arrivals when it re-opens.

Did your friend choose the "day" parking by mistake? There are no tariffs set at CHF 35, just CHF 31 or CHF 37 for a day's parking. Otherwise the charges for half an hour are around CHF 3 or 4
Usually you just slide your ticket into the machine and it states what the fee is.
Definitely sounds like a mistake.

OP is talking about curb side parking at upper floor / departing. Those places are meant for drop off only. Anything more than a kiss or a good bye is not possible (or costly).
The price: First 5 min are free and CHF 1 / min thereafter. http://www.flughafen-zuerich.ch/pass...n-und-abholen/ | The following 3 users would like to thank aSwissInTheUS for this useful post:

No is not a mistake, those are the prices at the new departures parking at the airport, the goal is that people only use this for very quick board and unboard since it's free until 5 minutes and from then the rate is per minute

Nothing unusual with that - its a busy departures area and if you've come by car, most people want the convenience of being dropped off at the kerb - so the prices make sure there is a smart turnover leaving space for everyone. It is rather to be expected I think.
Actually in most UK airports if you abandonned (their word for parked) your car in the drop off zone it would be subject to a controlled explosion and you would be arrested for suspected terrorist offences.
Bad luck that you got caught out by this though. Hopefully this thread will prevent it happening to anyone else.

I paid CHF 6 yesterday for ~11 minutes yesterday so CHF 1/minute after 5 minutes is exactly right.
Are parking rates similar for short term (1-2Hr) parking at parking 2/3 or 6?
Cheers!

Cheers! | | | | | Obviously not - even in Zurich nobody in their right mind would park for 60 CHF per hour. That rate is purely a penalty to stop people parking in the dropoff zone.
The rates are on their site: http://www.zurich-airport.com/passen...-for-traveller | The following 2 users would like to thank newtoswitz for this useful post:
