Re: traffic updates

It may vary by radio, but if there is a button marked TA and an icon TA on the display, then press the button until the icon goes away.

Otherwise, check your manual.

It might also be labelled TP (Traffic Priority).

Re: traffic updates

OP - just a quick thing: have you considered that every car might have different settings, and even then the radio within the car might be different?

If you want specific answers, how about providing a bit more information?

Easy peasy... Find first and tick off TP (traffic program) icon in menu...

Re: traffic updates

Just my two rappen, but I would not turn them off as they contain helpful info. My German is terrible so I have learned to listen for key words. Roughly:
  • In der Region = In the Region, i.e. near Zurich
  • A1 (ah-eins) or similar = name of the freeway or road
  • Richtung = Direction. So A1 richtung Zurich means A1 traveling toward Zurich
  • Zwischen = Between. Often used when mentioning a problem between two exits
  • Stau = Traffic is either stopped or moving less than 10 kms per hour
  • Stocken der Verkehr = Slow traffic between 10 to 30 kms per hour
  • Unfall = Accident
  • Baustelle = Construction

Hope that helps. Sorry, I don't know the French or Italian equivalents.

Closed or blocked, as often in the case of mountain passes in winter

Re: traffic updates

der Stau = traffic jam or bottle neck

I always leave TP on as it's usually good source of traffic info. In case it interrupts my favourite song, usually it is handy to turn it off by half turn of the knob

Re: traffic updates

Surely you should be using our massively subsidized public transportation system where you wouldn't need reminding of the traffic status anyway?

Hasn't anyone taught you about the evils of owning a motor vehicle yet ...?

Typical day on EF, ask for one thing and get another. At least he also got the info he wanted. But honestly, in this case I think it is better to learn what the words mean instead of ignoring them.

Meh. Interrupting traffic updates are a PITA in UK too.
