100 francs per day isn't a bad price.

Re: Car Rental 7 Seater - Best place?

If you have the time/inclination you could go over the border.

We hired a 7 seater from Hertz last year on the Mulhouse side of the Basel airport. We paid around 38 per day if I remember correctly, and the woman at the counter asked if we would be driving in Switzerland as they had a car available that already had a CH motorway vignette.

I would imagine that there would probably be rental companies closer to Zurich, perhaps in Waldshut or something...

Try your local Car Dealerships. Many of them do quite nice rental offers (future of poss. sales?).

We had a Mariva for a long weekend a few years back, and it came out at about 60% of the normal Car rental pricing. OK, we ended up buying one, but that's neither here nor there.

Good luck in your search

While i agree 100 CHF per day is ok, its that darn per day additional charges that get me (i.e. damage waiver).

I will try the ideas mentioned above.

check this website

I, once, wanted to rent it as well and came across this. But I did not go for it as my guest arrived with their own car.

What you should be doing is, if you have a Visa credit card for example, be calling them directly, and ask if you rent a car, is insurance already built into the benefits of being a member with that credit card company?

I say this, because one time I took the minimal insurance on a car that I rented, and had a small crash/incident. It didn't even look that bad, but it was in 3 panels, and because of that, the 500 in, insurance I took, did not cover the 1500 plus in actual damage. I freaked out naturally, and a girl that worked for the rental agency gave me a tip. She told me to contact Visa, as this insurance was already built in to being a member(which means another reason why they want to secure the car rental with a credit card, is not that little bit they freeze, it's because you will have this insurance, and if all else fails the car is covered), so basically I overpaid for that 500 insurance I took.

End of story I had nothing to pay on it. Though it isn't the same with all cards. So, you should contact the company you use, and look into that first. Because when all that fails, if you have insurance with the car you drive(like your household car), you can claim on that if there is an accident as well.

Beware of new rules re rental cars though. Are you from the EU? and do you want to drive in Switzerland?

He only has to declare the hire car as a temporary import at the border crossing.
