Car dealer recommendation

Dear All,

Due to changes in "personal setting" I will be looking to sell my car in the next couple of months, without getting a replacement. The car is an Audi from the premium side of their model range.

Does anybody have any experience with selling such a car and can recommend any dealerships around Zurich?

Thank you very much in advance.

Re: Car dealer recommendation

a dealer will always give you less then you could get privately, would probably also help if you gave at least a few more details about the car, like age and km

Re: Car dealer recommendation

Hi BigBlue2,

I am painfully aware of this but the "convenience factor" is quite a large plus. Would try to contact dealers to get a reference point, besides trying Autoscout.

The car is a five year old 2-seater with a V8 engine.
Unfortunately Englishforum does not seem to be the right market for this type of cars (looking at previous ads).

Re: Car dealer recommendation

most car sales fail on here because the seller is being greedy, they take a look on autoscout, find the most expensive ad they can find for a similar car and price theres (usually) at a bit more then that.

always worth a shot if your sensible with the pricing.

Re: Car dealer recommendation

I bought my car here (Autohaus Otelfingen), they gave great service and they seem to deal with mostly premium cars. They also dealt with all the paper work which was very handy.

Re: Car dealer recommendation

Depending on the age/spec/km a dealer might take if off your hand. The next port of call would be the used dealers around Zurich - Auto Steiner, F&G, Gfenn

I would recommend getting your own EUROTAX price before talking to dealers - so you'll have some idea of what you are likely to be offered.

A rough rule of thumb is about 2/3 of a dealer listed price on Autoscout.

Which is exactly what the linked place does: Buy and then sell.

The experience of buying a car at these places is nothing like selling a car to them

You may find you could be pleasantly surprised given the price is workable.

Re: Car dealer recommendation

I only tried to buy one car once from autohaus otelfingen, but the experience was very lame. Engine was knocking, I checked the dipstick: no oil. Went back, the guy put some oil from a random unlabeled can in , it was still knocking, then he tried to convince me "they all sound like that". I could literally hear it knocking from the cabin with the AC full on!

In the end, even though I didn't really want to buy it, I was just curious if he'd budge on the (pretty high) price on account of the engine noise. Zero success: neither lower price, nor options nor some free warranty were an option for him.
