URGENT - reliable taxi/minivan service/driver needed for trip from Zurich to Valens

Hello friends,

I hope everyone is doing well. I have an urgent request.

My relatives are travelling from Zurich Marriott Hotel (Flughafen) to Kliniken Valens (7317 Valens) on Tuesday June 03. They will stop in the city center

There are a total of 3 passengers and one is handicapped. They have some luggage and a collapsible wheelchair to carry.

Can you recommend a very safe, reliable taxi service/driver that can provide this service?

Thanks!
hulahoop

Valens up the back of the Tamina Gorge, near Bad Ragaz?

I can't recommend a taxi service, but you should be aware that the journey is likely to cost several hundred francs!

Good luck, and I hope you find the information you're after.

Depending on how handicapped the one traveler is would they consider taking the train to the station nearest Valens, Chur perhaps? A taxi from there will still cost, but much less.

My 70 yr old MIL w/hip replacement traveled alone with her similarly aged polio handicapped friend with respective luggage and a collapsible wheelchair from Stockholm to Zürich, return to Stockholm via Freiburg and Paris. I doubt that saved them any money, but they had a good time reliving their uni-days;)

They found the train personnel very helpful on all parts of the journey, the biggest challenge was the few occasions they ended up on older rolling stock with steep steps. If one chooses the train carefully (most fast intercity of which many go through Chur) they would likely be fine.

Just a suggestion...

I would also suggest contacting the kliniken valens and asking them what they recommend. As said, you should be able to get a direct train to the nearest station, and the train system is very safe and generally has good wheelchair access. You should speak directly with the ticket office at the Zurich airport train station to all how to arrange wheelchair access. Normally this is something you prep-arrange and they have staff who will direct you to the correct carriage and possibly organize an access ramp. Some of the trains also have disabled access toilets on board. But again, best to make direct contact with the train office.

I would imagine the taxi from Zurich to bad ragaz would take over 30 minutes, and will not be wheelchair accessible. And cost several hundred Swiss francs...

Hi friends,

Thank you for your replies. Unfortunately the train option would not work because they are carrying luggage as well.

A taxi/minivan would work best in this situation.

Any leads would be very welcome.

Thanks,
hulahoop

Like I said before, ask the klinik.

Or even the hotel where they are staying, you need to talk to a taxi/transport company directly, but you must pre-negotiate the cost. And we are not kidding when we say that it will be several hundred dollars...

You can google transport taxi service Zurich and call a company to see what they offer and the cost. You will find very few Swiss locals use taxis because it is excruciatingly expensive compared to awesome public transport.

The general assumption would be that if they can get in and out of the airport and to the hotel, they can get themselves on and off a train...

The train company deals with luggage too. They will collect your luggage for you when your flight arrives (you don't have to handle it at all) and forward it to the local train station at your destination.

From what you've said that still sounds like the best way to me. Get in touch with them and ask, they speak English and are very helpful.

Zürich airport to Bad Ragaz will be about an hour and a half by taxi (way longer than the half hour someone else mentioned) and I shudder to think what it's going to cost. Your call though. Sorry I can't recommend any particular companies (have you already searched for "airport transfer bad ragaz?")
