SBB online ticket-mobile

Hi,
does anybody has experience with online tickets? I am registered in the sbb website and I have the sbb app on my phone. I was able to buy a ticket and print it from the computer, but it doesn't show up in my phone app (only if I refresh "my bestellung" section, there is something like $(somecode.1234) which I can not even click). I've sent an email on the support but they replied copying the faq on how to buy a ticket online.
Are mobile and web 2 distint things?
Next time I will not have a printer with me! I would like to try from phone but I don't trust it very much

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

As long as you have a credit card registered to your account you can buy it directly from your phone and then it automatically appears on your phone or at least it did for me this morning.

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

I recently opened an account and had the same issue. My profile had a typo for the cell number. Fixed and now works fine. The SBB site online is really good- I usually just buy online, pull up the PDF ticket and mail that to my phone. always have it in case no signal or if using another SIM card.

Works without a problem on my ipod, can highly recommend the app.
No problems with the payment (creditcard) aswell.
Was nice to have when i relocated to basel, so i don't needed a printer that week.

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

I did use it a few times already. It works well with either post finance card account or credit card. I got an e-ticket in my phone (android), it also has QR code on it. Got checked once on the train before, the guy scanned the QR code, it appears on his machine, so no problem at all

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

VFR , are you talking about the mms ticket or the app ticket? In my profile I haven't put any phone number, and I would be surprised that I need since on my phone I use my user and password to access the service...
Thank you everybody for the reply, do you remember if you can access to the tickets on the website as well? Maybe tomorrow I'll give another try..

You don't need a phone number in your account, it works on an ipod as well.

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

BB has three main types of online purchased ticket.

1. From a PC through the on-line ticket shop you can purchase a ticket which is sent as a printable PDF file. You simply print this on A4 Paper.
2. From a smartphone using the SBB App you can get a Ticket which is displayable only on the Phone through which it is ordered. It disappears from the phone a few days after it expired. As far as I see, you can't print this and the ticket inspector simply checks the image on your phone.
3. From a PC, you can order a ticket which is then sent as an MMS message to a basic mobile phone.

I have good experience with 1) and 2) above. My only complaint is that the App keeps changing with each new version but one day the user interface will be stable.

From what you have said, I guess you used option 2) but did not find the ticket on your phone.

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

Not exactly, I used option1 because I was in front of a pc and it was more convenient to use a keyboard, but I would have liked to just carry my phone instead of printing the ticket on paper.
I tryed the test ticket for mms service but it didn't work (and probably I would have to pay for the data connection), so I'm discarding option 3.

Next time I don't have a printer but I want to keep the receipt of the ticket (later I will ask my office for a reimbursment), I guess the safest option is to buy the classical ticket at the station, thank you for claryfing!

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

RTFM ... and FAQs ...

SBB calls all non-traditional tickets e-tickets and makes the major difference between OnlineTicket (FAQ), which has to be printed, MMS Ticket and MobileTicket for your mobile/smart phones. The last two (MMS and Mobile) necessarily need registration of an account besides a valid CC or equivalents for paying.

BTW check "Does the app also display my tickets from SBB Ticket Shop?", "How do I obtain a receipt or VAT receipt?" and "My battery is dead and I am therefore unable to show the MobileTicket. What should I do?" on MobileTicket's FAQ! It is advisable to read the whole FAQ anyhow!

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

the whole 2 faqs! Probably I was always looking at the first one without noticing, I confess that for me electronic and online are still synonims. Relieved that it's not a problem in my phone

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

Sorry for the ancient thread revival, but this seems to be the closest topic and I can't find anything about it online re: two types of "purchased online" tickets.

What I don't understand is that tickets bought online on sbb.ch do not show up in the Mobile SBB application, even though both accounts are using the exact same login/identity. Do the SBB web and mobile app teams have some sort of dramatic rivalry, or is there just some bug in the way I have my phone set up?

It seems strikingly incompetent that they would sell three different and completely incompatible online tickets (MMS, emailed PDF, mobile app), but that is what I seem to understand coming away from this thread.

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

Tickets not bought on the phone don't show on the phone. No idea why they thought that was a smart idea, but it is what it is.

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

Hmm, apparently you can't edit posts after making them, even under a short time window.

It's quite clear that still -- even a year and a half after this thread was posted -- that tickets bought on the mobile app are incompatible with the SBB website. It is not mentioned anywhere on their FAQ ( https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-an...aq/online.html ) that the inverse is true, but based on our failings to get web-bought-tickets to show up in the app, I would guess that it still is.

Given how long this issue has been around, it would seem that SBB is pretty happy with their nonsensical system. Oh well, they do have good customer service in person.

While I agree it'd be better to have the tickets available in the app, the FAQ that you linked is pretty clear how to print a ticket. The fact that the app is mentioned nowhere, while printing instructions are given several times would make it obvious to me

If you get really stuck, the ticket counter will print a ticket for you for 5CHF (YBS!)

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

In the online ticket FAQ they actually state that these must be printed out and that they do not accept them on an electronic device.
In the mobile ticket FAQ they do also state that in the app, you cannot display tickets from the online shop

Does it make sense? well ... that's a different question ;-)

Re: SBB online ticket-mobile

I was with someone when the inspector made a big stink about the fact that a ticket hadn't been printed and that it wasn't good enough to show the pdf on the phone and that printed tickets had to be printed to be valid and some other saracastic comments about whether you can read where it says that the ticket MUST be printed on A4 etc. etc. so be careful to print it out in case you end up with such an inspector
