I was driving in Basel this morning and drove by the BP petrol station just before the motorway which reminded me people should know where to get petrol and where not. This particular petrol station is serviced and therefore you pay an extra 10 raps per litre for the privilege... So this must be a no no.
Also if you are driving to Germany the last petrol station on the motorway is at Pratteln this is also ca 10 raps more than if you carry on 500m turn off at the next exit then right at the top towards the rhine (Muttenz/Basel)followed by left at the next lights. On the left after some 200m is a tamoil selling at 1.61. Cheaper still is the Tamoil at Frick which often has a 3 rap off voucher available - only during working hours though...

COOP garages frequently offer good incentives.

My ancient TomTom can lead me to the cheapest petrol. Have you tried using that function? Navigate to local interests... hotels, cash points, AND cheap petrol!

Interesting thread opening (for a person who isn't living on EF 24/7, I haven't seen this subject before)...

But as many times before, the narcissistic and besserwisser-like behavior of a few selected members on the forum sent it down the toilet. A shame, at least from my perspective as an outsider. But who cares what I think? Feel free to groan at me if it makes your day - I just don't understand why some people have to keep mocking newbies - the search function does indeed not always give you all the answers.

In Zurich, I've seen the cheapest fuels at NASA stations and at independent station right next to the Binz trainstation. However, I have found that the fuel quality is not the best (makes the car a bit sluggish), so I rather pay a few extra rappen for better quality.
