Shipping back to Switzerland and some concerns

Hi ALl,

So as many know we are coming back to CH in a couple of weeks.
I have a dilemma with what to bring back...

I own an old Chevrolet Tahoe (1999 old body) 15l/100km , needs a few repairs (I do it myself) and she has been my trusty vehicle since here. Complete base model and nothing to write home about but still worth more in Europe than in the US (165k miles but these will easily do 250-300 without repairs)

Anyways since we are shipping back our household consisting only of clothes and some other stuff we were quoted $1300 ish to ship 100 cuft (about 25-30 boxes) on a pallet (we only have about 8 + some suitcases).

However I also have the option to ship my tahoe with , stuff it with all the boxes and suitcases for the price of $1600 sharing a large container.

now given the price of gasoline etc would you pay the extra and bring the car? She'd be imported to Belgium $390 and road tax would be 140 a year.... .

Basically I know the car vs buying another cheap vehicle where I do not know the history. This would simply be to get back on our feet for a couple of year(s) after that I'd park her and use it for winter or make an offroader or whatever.

Re: Shipping back to Switzerland and some concerns

haha Hence why I asked the question

BUT:

I wouldnt have an issue parking or any of that. used to driving much bigger cars, also in Switzerland.

And I am not importing her to CH , she will be in Belgium... 1 year import etc etc and for some reason they seem to be really wanted back home.

It would just be sooooo much easier to bring it with. (keeping her till last day here and drive into container with all our stuff in it. They will deliver the container to my hometown also in the price.

My only concern is the fuel, but after a few months I'd convert her to lpg anyways (sooo cheap).

But I also realize the hurdles.....
