New Evening GA card

I saw this a few days ago and thought I would share it. I'm not sure if it is suitable for UK visitors, but I might check as it could be a good option for some visitors who will anyway only travel about with you after working hours.

Required documentation:
6 Reisepass oder ID-Karte aus der Schweiz, Deutschland, Österreich, Frankreich, Italien oder Liechtenstein.

Does that mean that this is not available to anyone who does not have any of the above mentioned passports?

I think it is any passport, but they can also accept ID cards from the mentioned countries. Actually, I guess it can be interpreted both ways.

I'd interpret it as an ID card from, or a passport from, any of the mentioned countries, and that UK citizens aren't eligible.

I was talking about a full GA.......

It's no point having a GA for each and every occasion, you'll end up with 50 different ones.

A bit like UK train tickets, there musat be at least 50-60 different combinations for almost any rail ticket, depending on class, when you travel, which routing, when the ticket was purchased, etc etc....

At Chf 3550.-- or whatever it is, for full use on any train, bus or boat in Switzerland the GA is incredible value when you consider the level of public transport here.

3655 Fr.

Though the new evening card is even better value at annualised cost of

980 Fr.

Since over 50% of my travel is after 7pm, I'm considering trying it out. Though I may well revert back to the full GA for the convenience factor.

Re: New Evening GA card

well to get people to travel at off peak times I think it makes sense to have a range of tickets available. There are lots of empty seats on many routes at off peak times and plenty of packed trains during peak hours.

I think a weekend GA would make sense for people who only occasionally travel during the week.

Firstly I live and work and shop and most of my (child's) social life is in one zone of Zurich, the rest I can get to with a 1-2 zone extra ticket. I work 100% and the only time I would use a GA is weekends (including Friday evenings), and not every weekend at that as my daughter has a million clubs and classes on Saturday. Sure, if I were to commute intercity, or went away every weekend then I might concider spending more than half my monthly income on a GA, but to be honest, it's not worth what I can use it for. CHF490 (980 for a year) would be worth it, if weekends were included so I could get back to Zurich at a decent time for my daughter to be awake in KG the next day.
The way I see it, SBB are just trying to extend GA to people that wouldn't use it during the workday, but I think it would be better if it was extended to people who would use it outside the work day AND working days. And to be fair, if you are using it 2/7th of the week, the price is close to 2/7th of a full GA.

I read that it's a pilot experiment and depending on its success they will decide whether it will be prolonged or not. Link in Italian from last December: http://www.tio.ch/News/Svizzera/Attu...le-della-sera/
