Change your driving licence after eye laser surgery

Just want to warn anybody who as had, or will be having eye laser please change your driving licence so if the police want to see your licence they will not fine you. My husband has eye laser surgery 5 years ago, and was recently stopped by the police, and they asked him for his licence, then asked if he was wearing contact lenses when my husband said no, they then asked where is glasses where. My husband then told them he had, had laser surgery, and then they gave him a fine for not changing his driving licence. The surgeon had not told my husband he should change is driving licence so we did not know.

The police told my husband he needed to have a new licence so if he got stopped again he would not get fined again. So now he as a new licence.

Do you understand what is written in 4 languages on the back of your license (blue) or vehicle registration document?

This summarises your notification obligations, namely anything related to your registration and/or ability to drive.

I have an international licence, my husband is Swiss so yes, but it never occurred to us he would have to change his licence, and as i do not need to wear glasses, i never knew it was on your licence.

Unfortunately, in Switzerland as in many other countrys, ignorance of the laws is not a valid defense.
