I was surprised to see just 1 month GA but it exists. It costs CHF 410.- which is more compared to the yearly GA with monthly payment.
Well what a surprise, i wonder why ?

Re: Monthly GA Question

Hi, many years later... but we are in the same situation. My husband will be teaching a seminar at University of Zurich and we will be living there for 4 months as well. My husband, daughter and myself.
So I was wondering how do we get one GA travelcard. Can we buy it as soon as we arrive if we have all the paperwork with us?
Thanks

Yes, there's no way I'm paying a whole salary for one of those "swisspass" thingies where the SBB will then keep a database of where I was at what time every day.

Re: Monthly GA Question

I might be needing a GA card.... but just Dec-Apr. If I get the monthly GA, can I stop it after 5 months? Or are you tied in for a year?

Re: Monthly GA Question

Minimum duration is 4 months and cancellation only works per month, regardless if paid annually or monthly.
https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-an...ga/adults.html
https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-an...nswers-ga.html

Price if paid annually is 9% per month plus CHF 20.
Annual price is CHF 3'860, Monthly price is CHF 340
Cost for 5 months is CHF 1757 if paid annually vs CHF 1700 if paid monthly.

I don't know if the answers on page 1 of this thread, dating back to 2015, are still valid, but the gist of it is: you can buy a yearly GA, and return it. They'll deduct 23% of the price for the first lapsed month, and 7% for each month after that.

I can't afford to shell out 4K in one go.... I'd have to pay the 340- monthly. Still hoping it won't be necessary... long story, but want to be prepared!

Re: Monthly GA Question

I cancelled my GA 3 months ago. You just go to an SBB counter and demand termination of the contract. No questions asked...well the only question asked is if you want to keep the 1/2 price card after the GA term ends.
