"Certificate of Conformity must be original"...

... Said the man at the Strassenverkehrsamt today as I arranged my MFK.

What I have from Landrover Belgium is quite clearly a print-out of a pdf. I know this, because they emailed me a pdf, and I printed it out.

The guy asked me a few times if it was original and I replied each time that it was what they had sent me.

Is it even possible for a certificate of conformity with a digital signiture requested years after a car was produced to actually be original?

Do the documents from EuroCOC etc look any different? Maybe I'll print it again, darker on thicker paper...

Thanks,

Andy

That's what we had for both our cars imported from Belgium and the SCAN here in Neuchâtel accepted them without question.
Not sure if the asked me if they were original or not at the time as it was 4 years ago but if they had I would probably have just said yes anyway.

1) Land Rover Belguim print it out
2) Land Rover Belguim put a stamp on it and counter sign it
3) Land Rover Belguim post it to you.

I know it is a pain in the backside - but you'll save yourself some pain if you get the above done. The Swiss go dizzy over paperwork with stamps and signatures. (Even in this case they mean absolutely bugger all).

Then the digital version is the original. Give them a thumb drive with the file on it.

I actually did hold my ground and made it past the gatekeeper. Fortunately he took my saying it was from Land Rover as "Yes it is original". The funny thing being... if he even has to ask he obviously sees alot of them like that.

Apparently I Need to present my original CoC again for plate issuance?

Re: "Certificate of Conformity must be original"...

Depends.

I needed an original for a bike I bought new in Italy, and have to keep it with the vehicle at all times (it's written in the grey card).

However, they never ask for it when I go get the plate (I take it off the road for 6-8 months/year), and I only carry a photocopy with me.
