2 Motorcycle insurance change/cancelation.

Hello all.

Recently I just bought a second motorcycle and I'm in the process to register it.

For doing that I need an insurance for that motorcycle. What I'm intending to do is to share the registration plate with both bikes and getting a combined insurance adding the new motorcycle to the present insurance policy that I already have.

Turns out that the insurance, adding the new motorbike, is quite more expensive that the one I already have and I have some already other offers that have better coverages and for less money.

My question to you guys is if it is possible to cancel the present insurance I have to go with one of the offers that I already have.

I did read something about that the insurance policy gets automatically cancelled If I de-register the motorbike (I return the number plates to the STVA).

If that is the case, what are the pros./cons?
1.-Should I pay something as "cancellation fees" (nothing regarding that in the contract as far as I could see)
2.-When can I re-register both bikes in the STVA?
3.-What happens with the part of the insurance "not used" (remaining part of the current year with my present insurer).

Can you provide some advice?

Best regards.

Re: 2 Motorcycle insurance change/cancelation.

For as long the contract is valid, whenever the vehicle (car or bike) has plates, you will have that insurance.

You can cancel only at the end of the contract with 3 or 4 month notice (don't remember), or after a claim (I think).

The contract is also cancelled when you take your registration grey card to the STVA for cancellation so someone else can register the vehicle on their name.

Best choice is to transfer the vehicle to friend/wife/someone, and then insure it with you as the main driver. Who owns, who is the insurance policy holder and registered person on the grey card, and who drives the vehicle/bike, can be 3 different people respectively.

If you declare to the insurance company who is the main driver then you are 100% legally covered
