I thought it was down to the French authorities wanting to change the rules (or to follow the rules that had been ignored for years)?

Though, I suppose them blaming the French saves a bit of face.

Are you sure? I was there last week and saw several Swiss planes parked on the tarmac.

As to the original list, lots of surprises there. I'm actually surprised to see Easyjet didn't get a higher ranking. Obviously they are low cost and you get what you pay for but even so there are many things they do a whole lot better than legacy airlines.

These include food choice for example, and also the fact that when they need to heat something the oven thing is in plain view of the passengers at the front and so you have a fairly good feeling about hygiene, whereas on other airlines the stewardess vanishes behind the curtain thing and you don't really now what's going on behind there. These are small things that don't cost much but do volumes for passenger confidence.

Several? only 2 flights a day in out of basel for a long time.

Yes a million percent sure, a lot of my mates are now jobless. Official reason is profit but for sure the french tax uncertainty had a part to play.
