Easiest / Cheapest way to get from Geneva to Salzburg..any help welcome

Hi all,

In December I'm heading to Salzburg for a weekend. A trip originally arranged with some friends back in Germany. Originally obviously I was going to be travelling down from Frankfurt with them, but now i'm here I need to work out a plan for getting there seperately...

So, can anyone give me an idea of the most cost-effective / quickest / least hassle ways? I'm not aware of any flight providers that do the route direct, and as yet my knowledge of the rail system here is pretty small.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

By train - if you purchase your ticket in advance and are lucky to get one of the limited seat tickets - it will cost from Geneva to Salzburg and return 45 francs each way.

By plane depending on the weekend you will be traveling and how long you will be staying you are looking at around 1061 CHF with taxes.

Only available online and they only offer ticket availability seven days in advance. Read all the info at the webpage so you understand all the conditions (all in english).

Main entrance to Click & Rail Europe -> https://www.sbb.ch/mct/wi/shop/b2c/tree.do?1

Click & Rail for Austria -> https://www.sbb.ch/mct/wi/shop/b2c/adw.do?6049

Have fun in Salzburg. It's a nice little city. If you are a Sound of Music fan you'll have to do the tour. If not, there are plenty of pubs with young people along the river downtown.

Sorry no. 10. You are right. I totally missed that part. Since you still have enough time you can get a price quote direct from the SBB via email for your ticket Geneva-Salzburg-Geneva. And if you have a half-tax card let them know. You should still be able to get a good price. Enjoy

Hi, #10!

Have you defined the cheapest route Geneva-Salzburg-Geneva? I am also planning to travel in June and looking for options. Would be grateful if you share your info regarding this.

I will share my information as soon as i find the best option for me.
