1-Month General Abonnement (GA/AG) for 299 CHF in June! Half-fare in Austria = 39 CHF

The SBB have several special offers for the Euro 08 championships, and I mentioned some of them in the thread "Travel Passes for Visitors". However, one that should also interest those of us who are living in Switzerland is that they are offering a one-month general travel pass (normally called a GA or AG) for 299 CHF, valid for June 1st-30th (it must be bought before June 1st for this price, or you pay 100 CHF more after that, see here for full info).

You can normally only get a GA/AG by paying monthly for a minimum of 4 months at 285 CHF per month for the first adult and 195 CHF for the second adult in a household, or 3100 / 2100 CHF for one year (and less for kids & families, see here for full details). The normal full price for a stand-alone one-month AG (which this offer gives you) is 578 CHF (see here), so this is an extremely good deal! [EDIT: see following post for correction of this!]

If you fancy travelling by train in Austria during June, then you can get a one-month half-fare pass for that country for just 39 CHF if bought by May 31st, 59 CHF after that (see here). This also includes half-fares for Switzerland, but I think most forum readers probably already have the Swiss half-fare card, so this is not so important.

Bon voyage. Gute Reise.

I just discovered an offer that I never knew of before. At any time of the year, if you have a one-year half-fare card (halbtax / demi-tarif) then you can get a one-month general abonnement (GA / AG) for 350 CHF! See this page at the SBB website. The deal I highlighted in this thread therefore does not seem to be that special any more.

I just looked on the SBB website and they are currently offering a promotion GA on top of the halbtax - one month between October/November is 200chf for 2nd class and 400chf first class. That's discounted from the usual price, and you purchase online and they post it to you.
