BMW Timing Chain Issue

Unfortunately it seems our car (bought second hand a couple of years ago) is one of the ones affected by the known BMW N47 Motor Timing chain issue.

My girlfriend received a call from the local BMW garage and had the issue explained to her. She was phoned as I ask too many questions and he thought it would be quicker speaking to her instead of me As she asked no questions on the phone i got her to get an email for me to investigate a little.

Having read things such as the 2 links below i have informed myself on the issue and the fact that it is really a lot a work. The Timing Chain needs replacing on our BMW motor - this is done for free by BMW confirmed in writing in the email we received. They also recommend "Zylinderkopf Planschleifen und Reinigen @ 900chf" - i am guessing as a non car man that this is a general workover and clean of the cylinders.

We have decided to undertake the extra work (let us know if you disagree)
I ask my questions here on ef instead of the BMW forum as I want to ask the following (and I can't offer anything back to help others on BMW forums!):
(1)We can presumably expected good service from a Swiss BMW garage and therefore we should not be overly concerned with issues in the future with them taking the motor out of the car etc correct?
(2) Should we expect the additional cylinder work to also be covered at all by BMW (my understanding is that it is partly caused by the timing chain issue - or is it totally separate and it gets done once in a while and is worth doing down as the motor is already out of the car) - is it worth negotiating to try and get the extra stuff done for free?
